I’m pleased to see the beginnings of a groundswell of opinion amongst journalists and an increase in reporting of the need for Palace to rejuvenate its ageing squad. Hopefully, this has been partially initiated by the club themselves to show fans they are aware of the issues.

My bug bear the last 2 or 3 seasons has been the lack of signings or at least a drip feed of signings and when we have signed someone it’s been a senior player such as Tomkins, Kouyate and Cahill.

It would appear the message has got through and It is excellent news that they are seriously looking at the young centre half. This season has seen the start of a change in plan. We have Eze and Butland, hopefully Mateta will grow into a decent player and Ferguson will get fit and fulfill his promise, however I still think we are maybe 4 players short of where we want to be plus whatever happens with Wilf. The big question is have we got enough money to fill these gaps or have we left it a bit late and will have to continue to rely on the old hands.

We desperately need two youngish quality midfielders with legs and the ability to pass. I’d take Gallagher and Tufan.

I had a fanciful thought that the management had been stashing away in a top secret bank account £10 million per annum for the 8 seasons we've been up. Money for a rainy day let's say...

Parish, has been making some noises , that things might be about to happen, No real hint on Hodgson, though.
I think Gallagher, would have been a ray of sunshine for us. This season. He is a real up and down sort works back superbly wins ball well , retains ball well, and has a goal in him,. And no age at all. If only we had kept with his loan.

Parish updated fans about average age of the squad (amongst other issues) this time last year:

5:45 onwards for the average age comments.

Just my tuppence worth but I really believe that if we have a strong finish to the season then Roy will be handed another contract. I just don’t think the club feel they are ready to change manager when the squad isn’t ready. Parish and co are thinking longer term so they will be more than happy with what Roy is doing.

I suspect some of our 'Dad's Army' will be donning the shirt next season.

Do you look 'good' in shorts, Willo?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

To be truthful I have seen better legs hanging out of a nest.

That wouldn't surprise me. I can see the board trusting Roy until the the evolution to a younger sustainable squad has been achieved. it might take 1 or possibly 2 more years and if Hodgson wants to stay, why would they not let him? After all, he delivers what they want - PL security with minimal expenditure for this league. Why risk a new man whilst this evolution is happening?

The football isn't pretty but until the club are on an even keel with the squad structure, I don't think that will worry the Board.

I agree. If only we’d have stuck with him instead of Bats - easy to be wise with 20/20 hindsight mind you!
I can’t see him in a Chelsea team next season though- so fingers crossed we’ll go back in for him.

I think that because as the four seasons have progressed, an all out everyone behind the ball approach has become more used . It’s now taken that Hodgson, wouldn’t promote a more attacking style .
Because of limitations in our squad. , added to the obvious improvements that have been seen in many of the opposition, this approach has become more needed ,to get the points on the board.
But there have been times when Palace have looked slick under him,
less as each year has gone by agreed . But when the squad was younger, with a class act such as Loftus Cheek, on board we did look like it at times. I was at the Wembley game against Spurs, that first year which was lost 1-0 when the turn a round began, we were not quiet up to them, but we were not boring in the least, and by the end of that season we looked really promising. Trouble is virtually nothing was done by the club to improve on it. Hodgson, will never not be a cautious manager, but only totally cautious when it’s his best option. So there really is no reason to think , other than his age that he could not oversee a change in the way we play most weeks whilst still getting a decent return of points.

It cropped up on one the news outlets repeated on the Homesdale.
Never know if any of its true to be honest . As the subject has become a talking point around the major media outlets, it stands as much chance as most of it to hold some water.

Has Roy exceeded par as far as points are concerned since he took the helm? I feel he has.

Would people like FEWER POINTS for a better playing style? So be like one of Brighton, Fulham or (pre Sam anyways) West Brom?

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
