That’s not particularly true, that Parish knows when a manager has had his time. He has only sacked Warnock, Pardew and De Boer, Holloway gave up, Freeman deserted to Bolton, Pulis and Allardyce both resigned.
I can’t think why Parish would want Roy to go, he keeps the Premier money rolling in, by achieving the required points with ease. This is without significant investment in players and just gets on with the job and is perfect in front of the media playing the elder statesman role by saying really nothing.

That’s the nub of it. Why would he want Roy gone at this time?
By hook or by crook he scrapes points every season from what on paper are unlikely situations. The very thing none of the sacked could do. Pardew, meant well , he wanted a better style of play, but quiet honestly we almost certainly would have gone down if he was left in place after it became clear we were second best at the end of to many games ,because he couldn’t change, adapt, call it what you will. It’s always been the case , in the top division, that most game plans that succeed for a while , will be found out. Even if it’s only doing basics well there has to be a plan for when all else is not good enough any more, and can’t be improved on. Roy certainly has that.
Only if Parish, has a cunning expensive plan would he not at least ask Roy for another year, without taking an enormous chance on finding some one as adaptable and discreet as Roy,
As things stand it could go either way. Because Roy might have had enough if they try keeping him in the dark, over what comes next.

I'm sure plenty have seen the below (apologies if so) but perhaps gives some insight as to why Allardyce "retired" after losing four of his last five games.

For what it's worth I'm on the fence about Roy carrying on for the sake of freshening things up and not wanting him to have our relegation on his record. No doubt in my mind about how good a job he's done for us whilst having shred of integrity as well. How many managers would poke up with barely seeing a penny of the Wan Bissaka money I wonder.

2018-19 Spend £9.5m Received £0 Net £9.5m

2020-21 Spend £17m Received £10m Net £7m
Total Spend £48.5m Received £60m net £-11m

If Roy were to stay next season I'd be happy if he is given more support with player recruitment. Pardew got given 30 million just for Benteke.

Roy took Fulham to Europe and did well at West Brom so I've always felt with the right players we can compete for European places.

With our place in the Prem seemingly safe now, we need to look towards taking a step to the next level. Whether it's with Roy or without him.

Which players have directly improved under Hodgson’s coaching?
I can think of Bakary Sako for a limited period and arguably Ayew.
Many of the squad have gone backwards and some have stayed at the same level.
Some of the regression is due to players getting older so it’s not solely down to the manager.
I’m not convinced he gets the very best out of available resources which to me is often the definition of the best managers.
The last 3 results have been achieved by the manager reverting to type with shape and defending to the fore, even against Brighton and Fulham.
Hodgson never seems entirely at ease when we attack, even when we fall behind.
I’m not suggesting he’s a bad manager, but there are limitations in terms of having a plan B or adapting to the opposition in games.
He does what it says on the tin, which is enough to keep us up and for some this is enough.

IMO Wan Bissaka, academy to £50mil. Tyrick Mitchell academy to displacing / competition to £50k a week Patrick Van Aanholt. Wilfried Zaha has brought more goals to his game, Jeffrey Schlupp and Martin Kelly as a decent centre back in particular who was in front Scott Dann before injury.

Off topic - but Leicester have gone ahead against the weed. Absolute comical goalkeeping error. Worth a watch

Excellent news. Brighton’s next 2 are winnable. After that only Sheff utd is an easier fixture. Fulham have more opportunities for points late on in the run in. Hopefully we’ll have finally played a part in relegating Brighton after gifting them 6 valuable points in previous seasons they were desperate for those points.

Zaha - most goals and assists this season vs any time of his career
Schlupp - left back turned attacking midfielder
Mitchell - pushing PVA
AWB - sold for a record fee in CPFC history
Ayew - top goalscorer last season

I would also argue, it’s difficult to improve players if they are brought in at 30+ years old.

Not bad considering the transfer windows we have had under Roy
