I don’t know if Dyche is the answer as a replacement for Hodgson or not, but surely it’s equally absurd to dismiss him for Burnley’s poor form this season as it is to dismiss Hodgson for the losing run at the end of last season.
Dyche has a solid body of work over a number of seasons and has done an excellent job taking into account his limited resources.
If the definition of good management is getting the maximum out of available resources it would be hard to dispute that Dyche has achieved this.
With regard to Hodgson, he has shown flexibility this season with regard to moving to 4-4-2 this season and showing a willingness to include at least one attacking midfielder.
This is all many fans were asking for.

This is Burnley's 5th consecutive season in the PL.
In the last 4 seasons they have finished 16th,7th,15th and 10th.

Their net spend over the last 4 seasons has been around £55 Mill which is basically the same as our net spend over that period.

Burnley were relegated under Dyche 2014-15 season but he brought them straight back up to the PL finishing top of the Championship.

Roy is the type of manager who can take a 20th place team and get them to 15th. And he can take a 10th place team and get them to 15th.

When he first arrived, we were the former, now we are the latter.

He only knows one way to manage, and what we've seen for the past two years is what we will always get from him. I don't think we are a top 6 team, but we should be better a lot better than what we saw today. It's just not good enough from the manager.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Try and get Eddie Howe now.
Whatever he might be be is way better than what we have at the moment.

Great idea. Let’s get a manager in who spent a fortune and got relegated. Bournemouth barely mustered a shot over the two games we played them last year.

I'm not getting as carried away as I usually do after last night, in relation to Roy.

I do believe he should go, but when we have a clear candidate for someone to replace him, as I don't see the point of potentially putting ourselves in danger just because we are inconsistent.

Roy is capable of keeping us up and finishing between 9th and 16th as standard, but we should achieve more and be aiming for top 10 minimum each year now.

We were surprisingly good against Leeds which gave us cause for optimism.

One thing which flips it and I think is pretty damning, is when you look back at our last 5 results and performances.

Brighton 1-1 D : We were woeful and had 1 shot on target from a penalty.

Fulham 1-2 W : Beat a poor side in a uninspiring game, not too much to complain or be positive about.

Wolves 2-0 L : I honestly thought we were pretty dreadful for large parts and failed to make the keeper come into action. Good side are Wolves, so I won't moan too much.

Leeds 4-1 W : It may have been a different game, if not for the offside Bamford goal. However, I felt we dominated and put in a good PL team performance.

Burnley 1-0 L : Won't get much worse than what I saw last night, but there is always Friday with no Wilf. Bats and Ayew hopeless, with Townsend looking worse each week again. So poor all round, minus Eze in patches.

Looking back at these, it's not just getting beat but it is how we perform.

If we were to lose 3-1 and have a go with chance after chance, I think we'd take it differently.

Last night was always a game we were going to lose or draw at best, knowing the Wilf was out.

Newcastle on Friday, with both teams playing pretty poorly. Surely, that is the most clear and obvious 0-0 or 0-1 Palace match for years.

Palace will not find a better manager than Roy right now. It is not his fault if players make ridiculous mistakes like last night. The switch to 442 this season has improved our style and effectiveness and I find these calls for him to go pointless and disrespectful. If the club had splashed out for Jarrod Bowen we’d be in fantastic shape now. I’m not going to tell other fans to get behind Roy, but I certainly support him completely. A truly great manager and we are lucky to have him.

Eddie Howe was talking about what he'd do if he was Palace manager last night and not commenting much about Burnley. Perhaps putting himself forward?

Can't really blame Roy for last night. We need a midfielder who can take control of the ball and find a decent pass. Reidewald did well before being taken off. MacArthur is sadly now only a Championship player.

After taking the lead, Burnley did well. We seemed to repeatedly try and carry the ball out of our own half, that gave them time to drop back into a tight formation and crowd us out every time we got near the final 3rd.

Batshuayi had an awful game. Hopefully its just lacking a bit of match sharpness. Benteke might have been as we consistently failed to get the ball in the box.

It seemed strange the options on the bench were Sakho and Cahill. Why would you need both?

Kouyate isn't really a defender. He's not really a midfielder either. It's questionable if he's actually a footballer.

Clyne seems to have a quiet but competent performance.

PVA always seems to be a mix bag. His passing is woeful at times.

Ultimately, it's a game we should be winning and we were below par all round, but not bad enough to take the risk of replacing him. Story of Roy's career.

There wasn't a lot in it last night. But for a stupid mix up the game may have ended very differently. Unlike in some games in the last 12 months I think last night was less about tactics and more about a lack of quality with the final pass repeatedly misplaced. Burnley were back to full strength at the back and they are capable of shutting out much better teams than us when they have their best defence (the only team to get a clean sheet at Anfield in something like 60 games). I was veering towards Roy out, but there are signs of improvement and I think he should steer the ship until the end of the season providing we don't see a cataclysmic slump like the end of last season. Stick Cahill back in and we should look a lot more solid and actually have a leader on the pitch.

Depends now on the Newcastle and WBA games, win those and it can be argued that RH is keeping his part of the deal - 19 points from 11 played. Lose, and the games to follow suggest a tough Xmas and New Year.

I’m not Roy’s biggest fan but it would be harsh to blame him for last night.
Lots of the players didn’t turn up.
I also have to accept that the move to 4-4-2 , which many wanted to get us into more attacking areas, leaves the two in central midfield sometimes exposed.
Mcarthur has been a terrific player for us, but unsurprisingly it’s a lot to ask of him at this stage of his career.
Luka is one paced and not mobile enough to be one of the two.
Kouyate and Mcarthy have the energy and bite , but perhaps lack the creativity.
That leaves Riedewald, whom I like, but the jury is out whether his attributes are best seen as one of the two.
A conundrum for Hodgson.

Howe was stagnated at Bournemouth, hence the message a manager has to his players wanes.. look at Man City....

Now look at BMTH and their form, they came good at end of season, where was our Palace?

The same at Palace, team is stagnated under Roy....
