I don't think Leeds will go down, but I wonder if their fans will be happy next season if they continue to get thrashed on a regular basis. Many of us enjoyed Pardew's brand of insanity, but eventually it doesn't matter how many chances you create or even score if you keep shipping large numbers of goals, or keep losing, especially against your rivals. Another issue is that I think I'm right in saying that Biesla's teams have a history of running out of steam towards the end of the season due to the way they play. Leeds' board will probably pump some more money into the club in January though and I think they'll finish probably somewhere between 12-15th.

Last season they won 10 of their last 12 games to clinch promotion.

You mark my words, once the stadiums are full again it will be a different story... teams won’t be playing with the abandonment that they are at the moment...

Only after they had a month or two’s rest due COVID and no football being played!
It gave them the rest they needed to recharge their batteries and go again.

I think comparisons to Bellisa and the Liverpool 9-0 defeat under Coppell are both disingenuous.

Both teams were newly promoted and the managers had a lot of credit in the bank.

Roy has earnt credit from his performance 3 years ago, but has been burning through it since. No one is calling for sacking Hodgson on the Liverpool result in isolation. The fact is, over the last 12 months there are now only 4 premiership teams with a lower points per game tally than us (Brighton, Sheffield United, Fulham and West Brom), and we are largely on a downward trajectory.

As Willo points out, Leeds won 10 of their last 12 games at the end of last season, we got 1 point from our last 8.

Although, I would say to Willo that this year Leeds had the luxury of a short break before the end of the season to revive themselves, where in previous years they've fallen flat on their face.

Leeds won 5 games in succession before Lockdown, they then had to play 9 games in a month when football returned.

As with all the ' Roy Out ' threads and sentiments, it all boils down to this ;

1. The Club has little short term ambition other than staying in the Premier League.

2. The Club has been underinvesting in the squad in comparison to the competition.

3. Hodgson's methods have been proven to achieve PL safety.

So if I was in Steve Parish's shoes, I would have little or no appetite to change the manager given that he delivers on #1. and makes do with #2 and #3 is the compromise.

I can't make a case for Roy providing edge of the seat thrilling football. But I can make one for the pragmatic approach he employs that keeps Palace in the Premier League and him in a job.

Perhaps this should be a "Steve Out" thread rather than the manager as it's fairly obvious that we will never be anything other than a treading water club whilst he is in charge of the club and it's purse strings

Steve Parish is only one of the 'Hierarchy'.
If the Hierarchy in general are unwilling to swell the coffers as much as supporters desire, SP is working within certain parameters.

It was those 9 games that they would’ve been knackered for and which the break helped them.

His teams do have a history of faltering and maybe this Leeds team was just the one exception.

Roy has held the fort and we remain a Premiership side. Academy and stadium plans are coming to fruition, which is a plus sign.
However time waits for no man and the policy of signing experienced pros on big wages has led to an ageing squad, a number of whom will be soon out of contract. We find ourselves at the crossroads, in need of an overhaul of the playing staff. During our current stint in the Premiership we have not particularly progressed, rather we have been treading water, more often looking down rather than up. I see no grand improvement between this side and the side of Pulis; rather, Pulis achieved more overall because he was arguably working with less.
The owners either don't want to or cannot spend the funds necessary to make the next step, and yet an ageing squad needs replacing. Something has to give. The lack of transfer activity combined with filler loans has highlighted the extent of our ambition whilst this current set of owners are in charge.

Now isn’t the right time, we are in an ok position and you can see the players are putting in a shift. The Liverpool game was different and everything just clicked for Liverpool that day.

I certainly wouldn’t want to go down the West Brom route which is a big mistake. Let’s get through this season and then see where we are...
