Don’t think having PVA back did us any favors as we just reverted to playing up the left which drew Zaha out there too.
Eze seems to have the wit to play in the middle and getting the ball to Zaha or Townsend where they both have shown a different side to our game. While I’m at it Luca looks a liability at the moment so the two Macs with Eze and Andros could be worth a go

There’s so many examples that disprove that theory e.g Bale at Madrid. I’m pleased you have faith in Roy that he will incorporate a talent like Eze into the team. I certainly do not share the same faith. From the beginning players like camarasa, Meyer, benrahma and Sarr do not fit the mould of players he considers for his philosophy of how the game should be played. It’s actually not about Eze.. it’s about Roy and how he sets the team up.

I also believe talent can be coached out of you. If you are coached day in day out in a certain way you stop doing things that come naturally to you. AWB started out as a winger. He had the talent which is why he made it into the youth setup. He was then identified as having certain attributes and he was coached to improve them. As we saw ourselves and is evident at united, whatever talent he had as a forward thinking player seems to have left him.

I don’t think anybody is disputing Roy’s ability to turn a winger into a full back.
The more central point in this thread is whether Roy can allow Eze to play in a role to demonstrate his obvious talent.
Trying to turn him into Schlupp or Townsend in unlikely to work.
In any event we already have Schlupp and Townsend so why and try and clone them?
Focus on what Eze can bring to the team as opposed to fretting what you may lose though his involvement.

The point I was trying to make is that it is abundantly clear Roy will not consider Mavericks, however talented if they cannot also do the defensive work to the required level he demands. It doesn’t matter how creative/influential they are. it’s the shape first then the players second. . It’s not players first and then build the shape around them. Some may argue it’s done him well so far, which is true to a certain extent, however nauseating his football is.

Maybe he is still getting up to speed in this league. It's a fair step up from Championship football. He has great ball skill, and has shown that he has flair. But he has hardly pulled up trees so far. Give him time to adjust to the different pace of the game. Some players step up immediately, some don't. But thinking he is being coached to be a defender is the most ridiculous nonsense thrown at Roy Hodgson. AWB was playing left back before Hodgson played him in the first team, yet it now appears to be his fault that he is not a winger.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

Meyer, Camarasa, Sorloth all came here with the expectation that they would provide a boost to our offense. You can argue if they are actually good or not, but it's undeniable that Roy got nothing out of them, and they all have had success elsewhere.

Zaha has regressed under Roy. Beneteke has gone from "not great" to "complete sh-t" under Roy.

Now we sign a great young talent, and he's already being buried on the bench for no reason.

I'm amazed how polished Eze looks on the ball, dribbling, and passing. And yet, he rarely plays. I'm sorry, I can't take this any longer.

Roy has done great for us, but there is no evidence that he is capable of developing offensive talent.

In my mind, Zaha and Eze are automatic starts every match. The rest doesn't matter.
