Today’s press conference reaffirmed where Eze stands in the pecking order. In the near term Roy made it clear that Eze is competing with Schlupp for the left sided midfield role. He went on to suggest that Townsend was in fine form on the right . It’s almost as if he sees Eze’s role as keeping both players on their toes. I’m concerned that a pattern is emerging here. Eze is not a winger and this experiment is doomed to failure. Play him in his correct position .

Today’s press conference reaffirmed where Eze stands in the pecking order.
In the near term Roy made it clear that Eze is competing with Schlupp for the left sided midfield role.
He went on to suggest that Townsend was in fine form on the right .
It’s almost as if he sees Eze’s role as keeping both players on their toes.
I’m concerned that a pattern is emerging here.
Eze is not a winger and this experiment is doomed to failure.
Play him in his correct position .

I agree with your sentiments concerning Benrahma and Sarr.My view is that Benrahma would have suffered the same fate as Eze and the same for Sarr who is deployed mainly on the right and Townsend would have been preferred to him. I very much suspect that Batshuayi is only playing because Ayew has been unavailable.

I have heard umpteen such sentiments about the style of football under Hodgson but in the final analysis he has ensured we have stayed in the PL for 3 seasons and this could well extend to 4 seasons.

I agree with your sentiments concerning Benrahma and Sarr.My view is that Benrahma would have suffered the same fate as Eze and the same for Sarr who is deployed mainly on the right and Townsend would have been preferred to him. I very much suspect that Batshuayi is only playing because Ayew has been unavailable.

Of course this is true and the usual charlton syndrome comments will be peddled, however this is not how football should be played. Ripping the excitement and passion from the game. This is not palace. I aspire for more from my club. No self entitlement here just higher aspirations and the belief he could be doing more with what he has. It’s early days with Eze, but the signs are already there, another attack minded player being criminally unused. This lad is such a talent. Hope Roy doesn’t ruin him.

Apropos Eze, I saw him plough his furrow for QPR and I simply could not see him fitting into the team under Hodgson.I had similar thoughts about Benrahma. John Lundstram of Sheff Utd could well be available in January and he is far more suited to 'Roy ball' than Eze or Benrahma. I suspect, Hodgson would have far preferred that we signed a genuine 'Target man' rather than Batshuayi.Might have had a celebration if we lured Giroud or Carroll !

Ok, I've quoted just half of one sentence from MM's post. But the theme of the manager not wanting the players we sign has been emerging on this site for months. Does anyone have evidence to support that idea? If so, then Parish is presiding over the running of a madhouse. While he's at it, why doesn't he remove from Roy the responsibilty for team selection and tactics? At last that might bring some consistency to the whole operation.

That is an odd thing to say? Why is Schlupp expected to do more than Eze? This perhaps indicates why Schlupp has been playing as he does more than Eze might be capable of doing.
Anyway we will all see today and let us hope he lives up to our expect. COYP
