So unless 20 years is a short memory.. it was that bad.

Slightly off topic but I remember not having a shot on target in the regulation 90 minutes for two consecutive home games against Watford and we won both (Deeney own goal in the first and two injury time goals in the second).

I think you’ve alluded to it, but you have to make the distinction between ‘shots’ and ‘shots on target’ - no shots on target isn’t THAT uncommon, no shots is. Interesting stat regardless.

Had a look at what the Brighton point of view might be on the result. They think they deserved 3 points (rightly) and the penalty was dodgy, but it largely seems like a bit of a non result. Some comments that they'd rather be watching Brighton than Royball. It's encouraging in a way that we are angry at the performance and result whilst they are unsure what to make of it. Some comments that they'd rather be watching Brighton than Royball. It's encouraging in a way that we are angry at the performance and result whilst they are unsure what to make of it.

More relevant is your not looking forward to watching us play - my enthusiasm has also emptied out, it's hard to enthuse about what combination of defensive midfielders will help to shore us up and maintain shape, instead of 'if we put Zaha back out right and played Eze as a number 10 etc'. I hope we keep Jairo in the middle, but it doesn't seem like there's room for both Eze and Schlupp in the same XI atm - maybe if McCarthy plays alongside Jairo and Eze plays as an advanced midfielder/number 10, a bit like Chamakh did for us, but I'm not sure he's ready yet for such a pivotal role.

whether withered or old a cucumber is still a cucumber - your faulty hearing does seem suspiciously like wishful thinking, but I am not party to the contents of your allotment (so to speak), nor would I wish to be, of course. I can’t understand why we played 20 yards further forward away at Man Utd - pushing four players forward in ostensibly a more difficult game - but are so passive at home to Brighton. I’ve spoken to a few fans who in a perverse way were almost pleased that Brighton equalised otherwise Hodgson would have felt vindicated by this way of playing. While I wouldn’t go that far I can see where they are coming from.
