I don't care for the way he's gone about things either but that shouldn't detract from what he's done.

All of the players you mentioned have done great things but not over the period of time Zaha has. Armstrong let us down badly IIRC.

You think so ?? Games per goals/assists.?? Performances per £s ??
Don’t think so.

Only my opinion but I don't think Wilf has much of a sale value now. I don't think he's going anywhere in the future, given his age and transfer value. There are better deals out there for teams.
Thing is too that Wilf wants to go to a team that has a chance of hoisting silverware over their heads. I don't believe those teams need what he has to offer, in general.
So, I think Wilf in the end will have to content himself with being a Palace icon only. It's sad, but it happens.

Yeah it's sad. He could have made a bigger impact in a great team. But hey, £6.5 million PA must soften the blow just a bit?

Yes I do think. Wright, Sansom and Lombardo you could consider but mainly based upon what they achieved elsewhere.

Ok. What champions league team do you think? , interested.

I think he would transform Leipzig, actually. Add magic to an otherwise high- level functional game. Inter. He'd lift them too.

Point is, has he got the requisite mental strength to find a way to shine game in, game out? If he did, it would be an easy choice for teams that need something magical and different.

I actually am skeptical he does. So I'm probably more in your camp than that of an avid believer. But if he can just pull his s*** together, maybe.

But I truly believe it's now or never.

what ever you think about wilf...enjoy watching the best player to ever be produced by the club, as he continues to help us to play above our level, whilst he is still with us.

as trust me if you think wilf is frustrating, you just wait til we have wingers like mark kennedy & paul ifil again...then you may really appreciate what we currently have.

it really grinds my gears, that a section of our fanbase have forgotten where we have come from, and what type of club we historically have been, and all they do is bitch & whine about every little detail of the club we love so much like spoilt kids.

just appreciate things for what they are.

I am not batching of whining except to say I hate the Wilf summer circus.

The rest of my post is my view on where our star player is in his career. If that's not a legitimate topic for discussion on a fans' forum, then I don't know what is.

Wilf has been great. His best football is indeed a joy. I'm not blind to that.

He really is at a crossroads this season.
The Palace fan and journalist Ed Aarons said that the agency arrangement with Pini Zahavi ended with the close of the transfer window.
Zaha had appointed him because of Zahavi’s extensive contacts in the game, but he didn’t get him the desired move so it appears Zaha is looking for a third agent in around a year.
There were rumours of interest from PSG and Borussia Dortmund earlier in the window , but these never rang true.
Aarons suggests the only glimmer of interest in the summer was from Man U as a fallback if they couldn’t get Sancho and also due to a reduced fee because of the sell on clause.
The interest was never pursued though.
Personally I would like him to have an opportunity to play at Champions League level but feel it’s unlikely now.
Taking into account that he’s soon 28, the large fee required and the question marks over his delivery and composure in front of goal there has to be a serious doubt.
His best hope is to hit a consistent spell of incredible form so the top clubs feel they can’t afford to miss out,
But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

These alone mean he’ll never play for a big club. And his wages put any size club off.

Nice one , ring them. He’s looking for a new agent.

My son has watched them several times, whilst doing a football scouting course, and he commented on first seeing them that Wilf would be a perfect fit. Except of course they couldn’t afford his wages!! Which I believe has been one of the major reasons for not moving. Having said that, if winning trophies/playing CL is that important take a paycut

Another thing we should remember: That seven straight defeat run only came to an end when Wilf returned. I recall in an interview him saying with absolute confidence that the team would revive. Of course thay did.

Also remember that for a very long stretch the only games where we got any points were those in which he played.

I feel very sorry for him now, not because he isn't going to a glamour side, but because he has to fit into such a negatively tactical style where he has to defend so much to the detriment of what he does best.

Riad Mahrez reportedly earns £200k a week. Harry Maguire similar.

Wilf is on silly money, of course, but if he racked up 15 goals and assists by the end of January, maybe, just maybe, a bid/package comes in that works for everyone. And we feel secure enough to accept it.

Personally, I want it. I want us to move on, and I want Wilf to reach his potential with no hard feelings.

It’s irrelevant where we have come from and whether if it grinds your gears or not, people are simply talking about the merits (or not) of one of our players.
There was NOTHING to enjoy about watching him last season or in the most recent two games. He was very poor last year and awful to watch too. Slowing the game down, side wards or backward passes with none of the flair he has built his reputation on. Exactly the same in our most recent game which, penalty aside, was probably the worst and least effective 90 minutes he’s ever played for us.
He is a sulker and a moaner and teams know how easy he is to wind up. As has also been mentioned the transfer Window circus over recent seasons has been pathetic and embarrassing. Perhaps an accurate reflection of how he is these days as a person.
Far too inconsistent, lacking in end product and has lost his electrifying pace. He’d be a bench warmer at best for any serious Champions League side.

He used to be VERY good...but isn’t any more.

Is Paul Ifil available and do we have a free squad place?
