Very sad news.
He had been unwell for quite a while.
Stiles, Bobby Charlton and Alan Ball from the 1966 FA Cup winning team all managed Preston.

Thoughts go out to all his family and friends.RIP.

We don't look after our heroes very well - and Nobby is an example. Only played him once against Utd and we won - farewell.

Nobby Stiles invoked horror with my German friends.

But he was short-sighted, he mis-timed tackles because of it.

Who can forget his dancing around toothless after the World Cup '66.

RIP Nobby Stiles and thank you.

Another legend gone.
Just read that he has to sell his medals in 2010 - Man U bought them off him for £200k - I assume well over the asking price. Least they could have done.
His family is convinced his brain disease was caused by heading the old balls. Very true. You would think the FA or the PL with all their millions would help out some of the old players who represented their country.

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

Isn't that what the PFA is there for, they are sitting on millions which they get not from the players but from the TV money.

It was disgraceful that 34 years passed before his contribution to winning the World Cup was officially recognised with an MBE.

Rest in Peace Mr Nobby Stiles MBE.
