Some will conclude that he was signed despite failing the stringent medical and we were left with no cover for Ward who had been cover for AWB.

Meyers massive salary is no doubt part wages and part signing on fee that Palace pay in instalments. When Arsenal signed Sol Campbell from Spurs he got £10m signing on fee spread out over the 5 year contract - and that was over 10 years ago, so these numbers will only be increasing
