It's hard to believe that it was missed by both of them.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Surely Diego broke this 16 year olds heart in 86' and doubly so when shortly after we realized how blatant a hand ball it was that the ref did not apparently see.

Felt animosity towards the man for a long time for this and the way he generally acted off the field.

I walked a mile and a half on crutches in 1991 to go watch him at Wembley, only to realize he wasnt even in the team not sure if i wanted to see him play, or have the chance to yell cheat at him.

But here we are, decades later, knowing an absolutely brilliant flawed willing to do anything to win player has passed on. Thought i would almost feel good about it, but i dont.

RIP Diego.

Never quite understand why people idolise people like Maradona Best etc, ok they were very very good at kicking a bag of air, but they were drunks and drug addicts, the same people who idolise these wasters look down on homeless people, many of whom are addicts, double standards

As I posted earlier, he was a cheating b******.
But to be fair to him I suppose, he was Argentinian, probably the second worst team of cheating b******s in world football after Uruguay, so we shouldn't have expected too much.

Michael Owen dived to win a penalty against Argentina.

Michel Owen cheated.

But he's English, so that's ok then!

2nd worse cheating dirty fouling team, nah. 1st

After the Qtr-Finals in '66 Sir Alf Ramsey, not only forbade all of the England squad & especially the the team to even shake hands let alone swap shirts with them & even mentioned their "unprofessionalism " in the match.

From an interview today with Terry Fenwick [Link] , Fenwick says he ruined my England so to be fair we have to be grateful for something . He also says
“I belted him two or three times,” added Fenwick. “I thought ‘that’s him done’. He was off the pitch for four-and-a-half minutes after I whacked him once.

“And when I turned round and he was warming up to come back on, I was thinking ‘what the hell have I got to do to stop this man?’.
Fenwick would have been a hero with a longer England career if he could have cheated properly. Maradona is villian because he could cheat properly.
Great player though.

Also michael owen was not a drug addict nor a drunk, and as far as i have read, did not treat women as meat, Maradona was an arsehole of a person albeit a good footballer

I watched the Diego Maradona film on All4 last night. Suggest that others do the same. Gives some insight into why one might feel the need to take drugs living a life that us mere mortals couldn’t begin to understand.

For me, taking Napoli to their 2nd league title when he was spiralling downwards was his greatest achievement. As for the hand of god... it was 34 years ago... I was over it by ‘87!!!

RIP.
