If that isn’t the very definition of arrogance then I don’t know what is. It is perhaps not a coincidence that the two biggest know it alls on here are both in Cornwall. Enjoy your locals favourite game of eye spy with my middle eye.

That post reeks of arrogance in that you chose to insult
the indigenous people of Cornwall. In any case I did not abuse you in any way I merely referred to those people who have deliberately (and it is well documented) flouted the Covid regulations.

It would be a fitting acknowledgement of an out-of-date manager who should have retired a few years ago, if Roy were to take us down in his last season in management. We'd be the martyr for all of football to look at and learn from. Taking one for the 'team'. Rid the game of dinosaurs. Crystal Palace helping to evolve the game of football by showing you how not to do it.

I apologise unreservedly to all two eyed people of Cornwall and those who may have lost one, or both come to think of it.

But, I do not buy into the reason for your self righteous indignation. As I said, you and WE, are like peas in a pod, you both like to dig out anyone who has an alternative opinion.

we got away with it last season - not investing the AWB money, Roy did brilliantly to add McCarthy and Ayew to the squad and with a bit of rotation and competition for places, + very defensive tactics and discipline we managed enough narrow wins and results to finish mid table. But they were short term fixes - we've taken our eye off the ball with the midfield - they're mainly past their best, not the quickest and not very creative - in fact by prem standards we have a cloggers midfield - I think Wolves best showed our limitedness possession-wise, they pinged it about and moved in ways we can only dream about. Roy did brilliantly last year (till lockdown), but those methods can't continue, we need more finesse and energy in our midfield, we've just got tenacity and discipline atm, although it's funny recently our play through the pitch has been better, but we've failed more with the final pass, but a more creative midfield would enable us to make more and better chances, not the half chances we currently snatch at. It's not just Roy who is liable for our recent failings, he has never been backed in the market and he needs to be, he would get the team to play better with the right resources, he oversaw us beat Leicester 5-0 with Cabaye and Loftus Cheek in the side, we don't have that quality in midfield this season - we need to add to the squad or things will get worse I feel, Zaha's return will paper over the cracks no doubt, but I'm not sure refreshing our squad can wait till the end of the season when so many contracts are up.

Maybe if Hodgson had retired years ago we would not now by plying our trade in the PL.

Apropos "Dinosaurs", one person's "Dinosaur" is another persons highly experienced manager who has managed renowned clubs, won titles and has also managed at International level.

Should we win at WBA,the acrimony against Hodgson will be greatly reduced.A defeat and he will face a barrage of ordure and visceral vituperation.
One day he is cock of the walk, the next a feather duster.

I don’t understand why anybody who criticises Roy is depicted as a knee jerk reactionary to the most recent defeat.
If we beat WBA at the weekend it doesn’t negate the criticisms of him which are based on the form over most of this year.
I have reviewed Roy’s post match quotes after Brighton, Chelsea , Wolves, Burnley and Newcastle and even he has acknowledged shortcomings in performance.
If he’s prepared to accept there’s room for improvement I cannot understand the sensitivity of some on here if others dare to call into question some of his selections, decision making and tactics.
I’ve been encouraged by some of our play this season and hope we can continue to improve with players returning.
But even though I’m a realistic fan of many years including the years in the old division 3, and know it’s beyond us to consistently compete at the top level, I still expect us to strive to be the best we can and not accept mediocrity as high attainment.

I accept that some supporters have a critical view based on recent seasons, however what I was advocating is that a defeat tends to stir up emotions of acrimony against Roy Hodgson, perhaps amongst those who perhaps have taken a longer view, but a victory has the proclivity NOT to cause such hyperventilation due to the fact that we have gained all the points.

There can be those who are still critical of form, style of play etc over a period of time but are not motivated to vent their spleens on websites after a win.

Willo, you live in the same Weed catchment area as me. Just 2 weeks ago, having not won in 7 games, there was a group of Brighton fans calling for Potter to be replaced with someone with a more pragmatic approach.

A win and a draw later, and all is now well apparently.

Neillo,I am further west than you.
I have not encountered a prevalence of Brighton supporters in my area, in actual fact I know and am aware of a number of our supporters!

Having just watched the Leicester Fulham game, which for the neutral was a decent game. I thought Fulham played very well. They certainly didn’t look like a nailed on relegation candidate. It makes the WBA game a massive game for us.

We have plenty of youngsters in the U23s, Banks, Dreher, Kirby, who can run around all day. We have Mitchell, Zaha, Schlupp and Eze and PVA is also quick. Clyne is not slow either, nor Ayew!

I think it’s more the point that Roy doesn’t want to play that way. He is happy to play narrow and deep and then utilise the pace we have on the break. I don’t see why the older midfielders can’t run their socks off for 45 minutes and then get substituted at HT. it’s not like we don’t have enough defensive midfielders to choose from. Start with Milivojevic and McArthur, finish with Riedewald and MacCarthy or Kouyate.

So am I getting this right ? You're slaughtering the manager but advocating making pre-conceived substitutions as per a Sunday League or kids game with no allowance for injuries or what turn the game takes in the first half ? Ridiculous.

Playing less time isn't going to give the players speed or intensity either.
