Ultimately we all all have our own opinions & views no one is right or wrong but me personally just want to see players played in there right poisons being brave to make changes when things are not working.

To see my team create a multiple of chances not see the dull sideways & backwards passing, creating very few clear cut chances for our strikers, only scoring 1 goal from a corner in over 150 or so corners to date.

As I say not expecting us to win every week just want to be entertained.

As I say only my opinion & as it’s my money I’m spending to watch the team I am entitled to my view.

Nothing & no one despite the excuses is going to change my mind the last 2 results have been damaging & are unacceptable.

But as long as Roy has his fans and they happy watching this then he will stay in a job.

No one is happy believe me, I hate losing more then anything but you must realise that Roy is short term surely, under him as we are at the moment we are not going to go down, going down will be the responsibility of the next manager.

There’s no indication Roy will not be here next season. If there were I think fans would take a different perspective. Personally I think Roy will keep us up and it will be a case of same again next season. I’d put my money on another years extension if I was a betting man.

Yes he could well be our manager next season but I feel the decision is down to him not others, should we win against WBA then we will already have almost half the points we need for survival and although it sounds daft saying that it really is a problem at the moment with confidence at both ends of our squad.

The stats are damning.

What's frustrating is seeing teams come up from the championship over the years and immediately leapfrog us as a perceived and in some cases an actual better team.

I'm talking about the likes of Leicester, Wolves... Aston Villa almost got relegated last season and suddenly with the right acquisitions (Martínez, Watkins, Traoré, Barkley on loan), they're moving in the right direction.

I'm sure expectations are that Leeds will stay up this season which would be the club's target, but following that no doubt they will kick on too and be considered better than us.

We need a rebuild of team, philosophy and manager which need to start happening now beginning with identifying the new manager by creating the long list of considerations for the position regardless of ongoing performances by current team and manager.

Investment in January has to be free transfers or loans as when the new manager arrives in the summer 2021 (assuming Hodgson is given the full season), they will need a full transfer kitty of no less than £50m and anything else that can be made from player sales (which is likely to be next to nothing).

My immediate short term concerns are the typical ones:
1. Our lack of goals scored/chances taken, 2. Our negative or rather uncreative tactics especially at home and against teams in and around/below us
3. Our aging squad and all the 2021 contract expires.

With the last point to add to the stats, we fielded the oldest starting XI in a Premier league game this season against Newcastle. Even damning is the fact that we've named 10 of the 11 oldest starting XIs in the Premier league this season. We need to continue to address this and invest in youth like Eze and Ferguson, but I'm not naïve to the value of the right experienced player that can bring to the squad and quality. Just no sicknotes on stupid wages please!

Regarding 2021 expiries as I understand it the following all have 2021 contract expiries: Clyne (Jan), Batshuayi (May), then in June: Cahill, McArthur, Hennessey, Sakho, Benteke, PvA, Dann, Townsend, Guaita, Kelly, Ward, Meyer, Wickham, Schlupp, Tyrick Mitchell.

That's a full starting XI plus subs so as we need to be pragmatic and give the right contract extensions (even to some players that aren't "doing it" right now) but also think about selling 1 to 3 players in Jan at the risk of losing them for nothing.

Correct but equally a lot of teams have come up and struggled to remain in the league. In fact as mentioned in another thread it is only these teams that is keeping Roy in a job. Pards had awful form across two seasons but eventually got the chop. He had won 6 matches of 36 games in 2016 and only a great Cup run covered over the cracks. Funnily enough it was his gung ho approach in games which caused his downfall. Remember Swansea 5-4? Even Tekkers scored that day !! Palace chairman Steve Parish said Pardew's "expansive style of football hasn't worked", and, "Now we're going to wind the dial back the other way." Perhaps the dial has been dialled back too much and maybe we are looking for a Goldilocks type of manager compared to these 2 ?

For me I think this is Roy's last season. He deserves a huge amount of respect for the job he's done. We're now a comfortable Premier League team.

But we do need to move forward. Roy won't take us there.

It's a fitting last job for Roy and when we inevitably finish 11-15 this season, we can thank him and start showing more ambition.

PS. Not sure Howe is the answer though?

I think this would have to be Roy's last season. We will probably appreciate him more when he's gone. The only way we'll get rid is relegation threat. We've always acted in those circumstances.

I believe that Roy Hodgson has been pragmatic.
In the final analysis we have an old squad, we don't have great amounts of energy or pace across the pitch so we just don't have the 'Tools' to press teams or play at a particularly high tempo.
The football has been turgid with survival the sole objective.
Thus far, Hodgson has met his objectives.

Friday night we lost the game when Roy tried to throw the kitchen sink at Newcastle. Even brought Bats on for McArthur.

Yes with 10 to play but also took the one player that crosses a ball of the pitch so removed the supply chain for Benteke.

The thing is your all missing my point, I agree Roy will keep Palace up.

But 4 wins in the last 18 matches 2 of which are against teams that came up is not good reading however you want to paint it up.

The fact we are leaking more goals than we are scoring is also a major problem.

I am just fed up watching my team play & the predictable tactics & subs.

I also fed up with people saying that we don’t have the players or other teams (Leeds) have a better set of players than us.

People are basing all there statements on teams that have a manager that is happy to trust his players & play expansive football whilst accepting they will lose a lot of games but will also win a few games.

Also people are basing Palace on a manager that since has been here has been so negative.

Southampton fans & Leicester fans said the same about Puel & now look at how they are playing entertaining attractive football.

Palace have failed to score in 45 PL games since the start of 2017-18 Season funny how this coincides with when Roy joined the Club.

The only way we will ever know if these players are good enough still is if a new man comes in & changes the system yes it’s a risk but do is keeping Roy in the job under the current stats in 2020.

I would like roy to start games as we finished against Newcastle.
Go for it for 60 mins. Maybe score a couple then change to a defensive set up. 3 changes on friday completely altered our style. It can work the other way round! We may concede early but at least have the personel on the pitch to get back into it.
There is nothing to lose in this approach.

The thing about Townsend is another myth. He’d barely managed a cross all evening and had been a 1 out of 10 at Burnley yet the internet was filled with people making up all these ficticious crosses he’d put over in the first half to suit their narrative.

The results over the last few months haven’t been good enough I agree. But continually having to select 30 plus centre backs who have to sit deep isn’t going to get you compressing the play into the opposition’s half.

The biggest thing to come out of the last couple of games is glaring lack of quality and pace. The fact that so many are now latching onto Benteke as some kind of misinderstood ray of hope underlines it.

I think if we'd had Zaha for the last two matches we'd have earned 2 or 4 points, which would have placed us at 10th or 6th – and we'd all be feeling fine. But we didn't and we aren't: 15th is dismal.

Roy's job is to keep us up. We need to return to earning clean sheets and hope we can find the occasional goal or two when the opposition become frustrated. We have the quality, but the PL is not a league for old men.
