Seriously weird.

By the way I wasn't the least offended by your comment and he just demonstrates his weirdness by imaging I was.

Praising someone else's contribution is a nice courtesy. Why on earth would that upset me?

Stick around. People like you are needed here.

C3PO didn’t get humour either.

Teased frequently. Ridiculed occasionally, but only when thoroughly deserved. In fact it's quite difficult to be really unkind when dealing with transparent bs.

None of that though is really the point. It's the dominance of those from one viewpoint which is.

I respect religious views, even though I don't agree with them. If they bring comfort then I am happy for people. What I don't think ought to be respected by anyone are the kind of scientifically inaccurate assertions that are promoted by the creationists.

Deriding political views here, as with any exchange here, is in an entirely different category to that involved with footballers "taking the knee".

No-one who comes here has to. If they do they can answer in kind any comment. With the exception of the site owner we are all equal here.

The footballers are supported by their employers. They are in their space and not ours.

Show them all the disrespect you like on here. As many have in this thread. If you do it at the grounds, where you are a paying guest, you take a big risk.

Ah, so when you called people indoctrinated loons it was out of respect for their views. I see.
How does disrespecting footballers’ gesturing equal disrespecting the message they are supposed to be conveying?

Who are these “creationists” and what is your specific objection to this compared to any other religious view?

Do you think creationists wanting schools to be banned from teaching about evolution doesn't mean they deserve being described as "indoctrinated loons" in a forum like this?

I wouldn't though attend one of their meetings and start to boo. That would be disrespectful. See the difference?

By all means criticise the footballers action here. That's up to you.

My point is, and always has been, that booing it whilst they are doing it, is showing them disrespect

I don’t pick and choose parts of others’ beliefs and criticise those with which I don’t agree. See that difference?
As previously asked - what would your reaction be if footballers made some gesture in support of Brexit? Total support?

Easy to find and not for me to educate you. Just Google "creationism". It's the "young earth" variety that are the biggest problem, who deny evolution and don't want it taught in schools. It's not a big issue for us but it's a significant issue in the bible belt of the USA.

If the creationists just kept things in their own churches and homes I would agree with you. They don't. They involve themselves in politics and try to change public policy over schooling. They are much criticised in scientific forums, so I am far from alone.

If the players stood on their heads and waved their legs in the air in support of Donald Duck I might take the p**s on here, but I wouldn't boo at the ground. I might laugh, especially if that's what they wanted.

If they gestured in support of Brexit, or anything else, I would just let them get on with it. I certainly wouldn't boo. I might try to investigate why later. I would listen to their reasoning when questioned. I doubt though whether your analogy is valid as I would expect they are as divided on Brexit as everyone else. They seem pretty united on supporting the current gesture.

So English people in the English capitol city (that has for hundreds of years been defended by the people of England who have sometimes lost their lives in large numbers in the process) object to the global corporation that is the Premier League (and pretty much all the other corporations), telling them that they should be appreciative of a movement funded by the likes of George Soros that the death of George Floyd (from drug abuse) means that the UK (on another continent) had systemic systems of institutional systemic racism without any evidence.

Man, I’m f***ing confused.

Yeah but “what is your specific objection to this compared to any other religious view?” and why did you ignore that?

And presumably some people who haven’t booed the gesture disagree with it too. But some have booed and so would some anti-Brexit football fans. All the time no doubt wondering why footballers are telling them this instead of playing football.

Do you see this as more of a problem on our society as Muslim views on gays, jewish views on gentiles or whatever the view may be?
