The only tourists I ever encountered in Wisbech were trying to find where Tony Martin lived in Emneth Hungate. Peckover House is nice though. I quite enjoyed a stroll through the gardens. Which took 10 mins!

Both prominent figures in the campaign against the slave trade....standing right there next to the town's high street for 130 years...near Peckover house too. And to think he even had a business there for 12 years Yeah, that's about right, shows how genuine it all is.

Just noticed this response. I know the memorial very well. I walked past it every time I went into the town. When I lived there I noticed it and studied the history as a consequence, especially as the major secondary school there is named after Thomas Clarkson and I had a little to do with it. This was though about tourist attractions and I have never seen a tourist looking at it, let alone making a special trip to see it. It's just there. Most residents pass it by without a second glance.
