Re the red card, it was certainly one of those that had it been a Palace player I would have thought it was both soft and a stupid thing to do. Don't give the ref ( or VAR ) a decision to make.

As to the game, I thought we didn't go looking for a 2nd goal hard enough at 1-0. Awful ball watching from PVA, rookie defending, and at 1-1 it's up for grabs.

But at last we have punished a team down to 10 men. That extra bit of time and space was used to effect.

Of course, West Brom owed us one after Craig Dawson's gbh assault on Jules in October 2014. Any fair or competent ref would have sent Dawson off, VAR or no VAR, but the ref that day was none other than the notorious Mark Cl#nterburg, who not only failed to give a foul against Dawson but even allowed West Brom's consequent goal. I was appalled to see that the late Clattenf*ck made a return on Saturday, as the go-to ref for comments in the Liverpool Wolves tv broadcast. He was as up himself as ever, and was clearly hankering for the days when he could laugh and chat with Ferguson in the tunnel before the Palace/Man U cup final.

Nice post. What goes round comes round!!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

Yes, they had the momentum. West Brom conceded an own goal, their tails were up after they scored their equaliser, they were playing better than us and looked like scoring again, as at the time we were defending very poorly. The sending off of Pereira changed the game completely.

We took advantage of it, for which I am very grateful, but it doesn’t change the fact that we were poor up until they were reduced to ten men. It doesn’t change the fact that we were also extremely poor against Chelsea, Brighton, Wolves, Burnley & Newcastle in our previous games and there is nothing pathetic in suggesting that Leeds would’ve gone on to win, had their perfectly good goal not been disallowed by VAR, because it was a distinct possibility the way the game was going.

Poor in result only, performance wise we were decent apart from the Brighton game where they controlled us brilliantly, Chelsea fouled their way to victory with Sakho ruining a very impressive defensive first half, Wolves again we defended like buffoons allowing them too much space with Bats being offside for our best goal of the season, Wolves were excellent defending us, Burnley & Newcastle could've very easily gone our way and I think you know that.

Yes the game where he didn't allow us the advantage every time we ran out with the ball after being fouled or should I say cheated on, man.u knew how to stop us breaking on them and that massive huge arse of a ref helped them.

Good organised efficient ref's are not noticed.

He's asking us to feel sorry for him here. Including for the fact that he reffed Palace in 15 matches and we won none of them.

I see he skipped over the bit where Wickham put the ball in the back of the net only for him to call play back for a Palace free kick.

He also forgot to mention his photo opportunity with a grinning Sir Alex before the game in the tunnel.

With the greatest of respect, Mark is not asking or yearning for any sympathy at all.He has been refreshingly honest and that should be applauded.

One suspects that there are those who believe that he was solely responsible for the fact that we failed to record a victory in those games he refereed.
Clearly the Hennessey 'Faux pas' to which Mark referred was due to the fact that our goalkeeper had Mark in his eyeline and was distracted!!!

I will not add any more to my sentiments in this post as any further comment will only be the catalyst for a dastardly Willo thread and the great and good in all honesty have had enough of them.

In any event, the discussion concerns the WBA game and NOT officiating in the FA Cup Final!

What you really mean is that you will not add any more to this thread as long as you have the last word.

I'm surprised that anyone does as very few have anything interesting to say. I would also like Sky to stop using co-commentators who have a vested interest in one of the clubs that they are commentating on. I watched Man United playing West Ham last weekend and I don't think that Gary Neville was aware that there was another team playing as it was Man United this and Man United that.

Spitting Jamie is just as bad too

It's taken him a bit of time, though, to own up to those awful refereeing blunders (unless I've missed something - in which case I put my hands up and apologise).
