Lead singer (a little upstart called Rod Stewart) was so drunk he could barely stand let alone sing.

A few years ago there was a music festival in my home town and the headline act was Billy Ocean. He was due on stage at 10pm but it was past midnight by the time the backroom boys had sobered him up enough to be able to sing

Been to so many bad gigs, but Ectogram at The Dublin Castle in Camden was the worst by a mile. Same label as Super Furry Animals and Gorkys but they had no songs and sounded like they had picked their instruments up for the first time 20 mins before. The sound of the instruments being thrown down a staircase would have been better. For different reasons, The Pogues at Reading Uni in Dec 85 - they were so drunk it was a shambles. Also The Stone Roses at Dingwalls in Camden. It was packed, hot and sweaty and they came on at least 2 hours late. When they did come on, the band were off, and Ian Brown’s voice was having a very off night.

I went to Manic Street Preachers gig in 1992. I think it was Hammersmith Odeon. I was the nominated driver.
I was so tired (I worked shifts) I fell asleep before they went on stage. The c-units played under an hour on stage as the 'headliners'
I had to be dragged from the venue by my mates, I was so upset by their (MSP) 'performance'

had that after maiden at the marquee, just a high pitch ringing for several days.
brilliant!

I was at that one too. I sat in the base bin for some of it.
That was when Maiden were superb live. In fairness, they have always been a good band, but I felt that with Bruce Dickenson they sometimes came across like they were being fronted by a kids TV personality.

Saw Alex Harvey at Camden Town once and he didn't come on till 1 or 2 in the morning. Had to walk to Victoria and then from East Croydon Station to Lower Addiscombe.

Didn't get home till 5am.

Yes at the Rainbow in '73.

Was given a front row ticket by a work colleague.

I liked their first couple of albums, but they had a new one out, ' Tales From The Topographic Oceans ' ( I think ). Which they insisted on playing in full.

The then 16 year old me hadn't yet developed a great capacity for beer, so the pre gig drinks, plus the boring muzak, sent me to sleep. I woke up to see an unimpressed Steve Howe playing guitar right in front of me, looking down glaring. I got up, gave him a dismissive wave, and weaved out of the venue.

Saw Steve Howe about 3 years ago at the Wharf in Tavistock. An old man surrounded by guitars sitting in an armchair and a rug in front. Acoustic set and every song merged into the same. Boring as hell.

It was a shame as a few months earlier at the same venue we were impressed by Steve Hackett and he was brilliant. We thought old rockers would still rock. Steve Hackett - yes; Steve Howe - no.

We found out the Steve Howe lives locally in north Devon. Steve Hackett's concert was a warm up performance for Royal Albert Hall. Two different directions with two different results.

Just like listening to an album. No presence. I was really surprised. Might as well have stayed at home

Saw them at the O2 about 4 years ago. Agree - great music, but no action.

Stray at the Greyhound. About 1971. Absolute rubbish after being hyped up.

Went to Anthrax at the Bristol Hippodrome.
Just before the support band started there was an announcement stating that if anyone stood or approached the stage they would be ejected.
Nobody in the audience stood up, except me and my mate, who were, how should I put it, rather happy. Security came steaming over and made us sit back down.
Would have got up and left, but Anthrax were very entertaining.

Also at the same venue, me and my mate got kicked out for getting on the stage with Iron Maiden.
We were chucked out the fire door at the side so ran back round the front and surprisingly were allowed back in.

Amy Winehouse at Glastonbury 2008.

She was absolutely mullered, forgot most lyrics to her songs and topped it off by randomly punching someone in the crowd.

paul Dianno , imo, was way better, as you state.
he was suede head, and looked good as lead.
Possibly the stand out gig ive ever been to.
great evening!

I went to see the Buzzcocks at The Trout in Windsor (1990's) Went by train, but the gig was sold out.
Got really drunk, ended pi55ing on the platform as the last train headed for home (never saw the gig).

I did see the Buzzcocks years later at Finsbury Park supporting the Sex Pistols (1997). An experience my now wife called "the worst concert/experience of her life"
