Just looking after the well-being of your tree.
Obviously LED lights are a given, because they are cooler (as in temperature) and generally safer than the old bulbs.

Water your tree with lemonade. (not the diet 5hlt). This is because carbonated liquids get to their destination quicker. And lemonade has shed loads of salts and sugars that should keep your tree going well into the New Year.
And this applies to rooted trees and cut ones ^^^

One to avoid. The Blue Peter Advent crown.
What could be safer than a child constructed, tinsel covered, coat hanger construction with attached candles?

Keep the room temperature below 21C/70F. Preferably 18C/65F. And kitsch Crimbo jumpers, lots of charades type games, excercise vids etc. if you need to feel like it's summer. Which is the major reason for heating a house to above average summer temps of 21C/70F

It's better to put it in the lounge. :-)

"fireproof tinsel" wasn't invented then. A bit like building cladding on high-rise towers.
In the 1970's I was in the Cubs and aged 8yrs old. We had an evening event whereby the cubs had to cut apart fireworks to make a projectile that would leave at speed after lighting,...and then come rapidly back to it's departure point.
Utter madness
But at least I had my First Aid badge

And now Elon Musk has made $billions from the idea.

Also spray the needles lightly with water every other day

Which brings us to the story of why we put a fairy on the top of the tree........

Once upon a time, Santa decided that it would be lovely for everyone to have a christmas tree to decorate; something to enjoy doing with the children and bring a little light and joy into the long dark nights before the big day. He was so busy himself getting all the presents ready for christmas eve that he didn't have time to deliver trees as well, so he asked the fairies to do it for him. He provided a tree for every household, and waved the fairies off to get them all delivered in one night, whilst he and his elvish helpers got on with wrapping gifts. Sadly, during the night, and before his tree was delivered, one poor old soul passed away, so at the end of the long night, one fairy had to go back to Santa and see what was to be done with it.

Arriving to find a very stressed Santa, the fairy told him what had happened and asked what she was to do with the left over tree - bad temper to the fore, Santa told her in no uncertain terms, and that's why we put a fairy on the top of the tree.........

The shop was all out of fairies so I have placed a doll dressed in a Brighton kit on the top of my tree this year

Always fed ours a bit of vodka, inherited from somewhere, but can't remember where exactly.
