We need at least one decent central midfielder. At best, ours are poor on the ball and poor at passing, no goals in them either. It's our worst position.

Our biggest failing at the minute is the link between midfield and attack. We have industrious midfielders who are good at winning the ball back however we then lack any creativity to be able to do anything with the ball! Think about Man Utd last January and the difference Bruno Fernandes made as well as the likes of Leicester bringing in Tielemens and Maddison, not to mention Villa bringing in Barkley. I cannot claim to know of any players out there currently who he might be able to afford that will make a difference but this, in my opinion, is something that needs addressing. Sadly Meyer didn’t fulfil the role.

I suspect, though that any money we do decide to spend, whether in this window or in the summer, will be directed at a young Centre Back and a so-called 'box-to-box' midfielder. I expect a good number of the expiring contracts will be renewed. You make a fair point there Doombear. Maybe the next manager will have some fresh ideas around CB and until then let’s hope his recent improvement continues.

With a number of our squad flagging age wise, in order to replace them all will be a 3 season or more affair, with 2 or 3 leaving each. To be honest this Jan I'd be happy to see just 1 new young face but expect nobody based on previous seasons. Think our major business will be next window, with only 2-3 changes.

Realistically we are most likely to regenerate with tried and tested players in their late 20's that have become unfashonable at their current club (similar to the likes of Tomkins and McCarthy) Edited by Bexley Eagle (19 Jan 2021 2.59pm)

Well the video i have seen must have been different to the one you viewed. Yes he is a rough diamond but so were Wright& Bright .He looks pretty decent to me and certainly an upgrade on Benteke and Bats.

Judging by the video I watched this pretender isn't fit to tie Benteke's laces.
