I think the overhead kick was class but the build up could have been stopped if firstly Maca had tackled the ball/guy that went past him to easily and then there was no one to to cut out the free cross that came in as we had a left back (PVA) and Eze out of position. Think we were our own downfall in that goal which was superbly taken?

Spot on, if we were to really scrutinise it there were plenty of opportunities in the build up to pick apart.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Agree, the build up was what should have been stopped. It's hard to criticize the defenders, you're taught to keep yourself between the attacker and the goal, the ball was behind Heller, probably accidentally and he timed his shot perfectly. These things just happen sometimes (like the Giroud and Carroll goals a few years ago).

One can analyse and dissect every goal and find a fault somewhere in the build-up to the ball hitting the back of the net.
I believe it was Roy Hodgson who once asserted that every goal is down to a mistake somewhere along the line.

But the first was never a yellow, fact!
The 2nd occurred because the defender was late getting to Benteke and, possibly deliberately, headed his arm. Watch it again very clear.
Ogbonna’s reaction of clutching face on the first one was outrageous, his arm made as much contact with Benteke, watch it again, fact!

Spot on. Also both defenders jumped with their arms up just like Benteke but he just got there quicker and jump higher. It is a big change when us fans are gutted Benteke is going to miss a game. All credit to him for turning things around.

The incidents were identical with Benteke's right arm making contact with the player.

Having produced a 'Yellow' for the first incident one can understand why the referee brandished a 'Yellow' for the second, which of course had to be followed by a 'Red'.
The referee was certainly consistent and supporters keep calling for consistency from referees.

In the interests of NOT turning this into a Willo thread I shall make no further comment on the decisions taken by Mr Coote.

It would be interesting to understand how any person is going to be able to jump without using their arms.
Is this the first step I wonder in making the use of heading of the ball obsolete due to the increasing numbers of people suffering with brain injury and dementia.
I await this particular refs next decision when presented with a similar clash, he is going to be showing a lot of yellows I feel.

I seem to remember us at home against Watford having a player sent off for the first case of pulling a shirt with a pen awarded with which they scored and won the game 2-1 ..was it Dann or Tomkins?

This season David Coote has brandished 25 yellows in 7 games :

I was wondering the same myself. If we are not careful, we will soon be like hockey - having to keep the ball on or near the ground.

Could I get used to that? Not at all sure.

Yes, I saw your claim that Kouyate and the cross, but I think you are using that for your own agenda as you patently don't rate the player, and if it's your opinion, fine, although I disagree. And you managed to criticise him in a response to Tickled Pink's comment about how Palace allow too many crosses into the box. Pathetic.

My results comment you clearly struggled with...I was not drawing any comparisons, just stating that we have just gone 3 games unbeaten with Kouyate in the team.

Neillo! I take it all back. Kouyate was amazing today!!

Liverpool's best player.

Aah the return of the Master Debater...

You must have enjoyed yesterday's game - clearly you could barely wait to come out with more of your inane nonsense.

Someone's grumpy today. Maybe it's to do with 7(SEVEN) nil defeat after your venomous protection of Roy and Kouyate in mid week! Don't blame me. I'm just pointing out the obvious

He didn't play well, got selected again, possibly put in the worst performance of any palace defender, constantly out of position, made mistake after mistake, argued with other players and only dragged off at 4-0 down when he had failed to attempt any tackles.

It's never a debate Neillo because you never put forward any facts to support our Old, White and ungifted manager.

Let's wait and see what the line up against Villa will be.

Have a great Christmas. Xx
