Have needed a half decent striker for 3 years!
Need a good solid CH. Tomkins, why not give him a run out? Was playing well until injured.Would like to see him and Sakho in central defence.
Guess now is the time to bring in a younger manager.
Roy (thank you) has done a reasonable job, but .........!!!
If Zaha goes, we are in big trouble!
The rest of the team needs freshening up, starting January 2021. Come on, let's be having you!!! Were we that bad for a 7-0 routing? Fulham got a draw!

Zaha leaving may well be what we need, canny re-investment might be the catalyst to greater things.

I’m hoping the 7-0 was a one off, but I would be worried if we lost to Villa by a few goals. Our form has been indifferent and I don’t know where the Burnley and Newcastle results came from, which we really should be beating teams like them...

We’re getting done by pace down our left more and more often. Luca looks knackered. PVA’s powers of recovery are getting less and due to his rampaging our back line is in disarray and at times outnumbered.
I’d like to see Mitchell and Reidewald back as first choice. The combination of Jairo, Eze and Zaha shows real quality and Mitchell adds a promising injection of pace. Batshuyai should get a run of games too. Our one touch game would be tightened and transitions faster and slicker.

One of our issues which has been the case for a long time now, is Roy has favourites and is reluctant to rotate.

As you'll see, we have far too many players that sit in that 'barely ever play category who are all taking up a place in the 25 man squad. Bar a few exceptions - for example Tomkins may play a bit more but he has been fit for nearly 2 months now and made 1 appearance - we are effectively running on an 18 man squad again, with about 15 players who have a chance to starting.

I can't believe other teams limit themselves like this and for this reason, we get sussed out so easy.

This is either a problem with our recruitment or Roy doesn't trust his squad. Both need addressing.

If we look at our 25 man squad and players who have made 1st team appearances (not including keepers) we have:

Players who get played:
- PVA
- Cahill
- Kouyate
- Clyne
- Zaha
- Eze
- Luka
- McArthur
- Townsend
- Ayew

Players who are occasionally played:
- Riedewald
- McCarthy
- Dann
- Benteke
- Ward

Players who barely play
- Sakho
- Kelly
- Meyer
- Batshuayi
- Tomkins
- Mitchell (Included here because only played when PVA was injured, no appearances since)
- Pierrick (Not in 25 man squad but is in the 1st team squad)
- Woods (Is in our 25 man squad)

It’s all about perspective sometimes

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Our defenders weren't hopeless against Spurs or West Ham. Far from it. Yes, Liverpool made them look that way but seriously, how often do you see that level of finishing even from a team that has one of the best forward lines in world football ?

We all know that the average age of the squad needs to be addressed. Especially in central defence. That's up to Parish and Freedman to sort out.

And indeed hindsight is a wonderful thing. I like the look of Gallagher too, and had we not been offered Bats, he would have been our player this season. And Bats doesn't look the player he was 2 seasons ago.

Against Spurs if it wasnt for VG we could have suffered another hammering

Roy is still naïve in this league.. the time he should have had more cautious tactics, at 5-0 down, he wasnt telling his players to defend and keep the score down, 2nd half should have been a tight defence. I like attacking but some teams will rip you apart..Roy never changed the tactics at 0-4.

This made my day...

What did we learn? Too much back passing, a high percentage of passes when unpressed goes straight to opposition players. MacArthur and Luka two of the worst culprits.
And that refs still are pretty biased (but Jon Moss is not to blame for the result). Why did he not pick up the yellow card when Trent-Alex kicked the ball away when Palace where on top of the game (down 0-2) and PVA went bananas?
Some of the tackles from Liverpool warranted yellow - Moss hardly gave us a free-kick.
And the VAR episode when Clyne tackled a scouser. It was checked for red card or penalty. But avoided the fact that the Liverpool player was offside. It should have been a free-kick to Palace - Moss gave them the free-kick and yellow to Clyne.

I feel that the team hasn't got worse but neither has it got better. Roy has done well, neither failed or succeeded and for me the time has come to hire a young manager, preferably British. The club needs imagination to progress.

That's harsh. Roy has taken us from a shambles to an organised, professional outfit. From relegation battles each year, to mid table safety almost guaranteed.
