Why does every deal we do take sooooo long to finalise and then collapse at the 11th hour?

Tbh I don't think they do it just appears that way as we now have a constant stream of leaks and rumours via Twitter etc before any deal comes through.

I'm sure every club has the same, but we just don't follow their transfer sagas with such intense interest.

It's widely known in football circles that Steve Parish takes every prospective new signing back to his penthouse suite.

Once there he goes through every one of his suits and gets the new guy to match them up with the most suitable footwear.

Sometimes this takes days and can lead to an interesting outcome - none more public than when Patrick Viera suggested a slim fit suit/white trainer combo.

Rumours are that Favre grew bored after 2 days and there was significant in-fighting between the many members of Nuno's backroom team that made Steve quickly realise he wouldn't be able to work with either manager.

Hope this helps.

I think we all by now know the drill. Other clubs now alerted to the buy out clause via players agent. Several offers come in and he signs for West Ham

I hope we get this player. I’m not sure he’s going to be starting 100% of the games but he will be useful to have in the squad.

Good crosser, finds time to look up and plays some neat passes. Good shot on him.

He draws a lot of fouls and goes down easier than Wilf so may be frustrating at times.

8m is cheap for a promising player like this. Fingers crossed.

It is a pessimistic view of this situation, but as ever nothing really from our end. All the noise seems to be coming very quickly from the Berkshire end, and very early in the proceedings.
Even allowing for the buy out clause, Reading , could drum this up for a bit more money, simply by making the proposal public before it’s a done deal with the player. This may be when all of that reported interest is tested, if so it could get difficult.

Only person likely to benefit from a bidding war is Olise. Reading can’t reject any offers over 8m so it’s pretty much down to the player now.

I thought they all liked the suits especially the massive choice to be had, but when it came to trying them on nobody could get their legs into of any of the trousers!
