I definitely remember the name, but when I searched for it just now it came up as being on Church Street rather than Surrey Street.

Was Remys not one of the little shops on the left hand side as you walk southwards down the market from Church Street? Very old looking buildings with an overhanging first floor held up on columns, next to what is now the Fox pub?

I remember those little shops. I thought one of them was a sports shop? I seem to recall buying trainers there, and also an adidas top in about 1989/90?! It was always damp smelling in there. Tiny little shops. Cafe next door.

If Zaha goes to Milan he'll leave all this rich cultural history behind.

Thought that was crown hill down towards the furniture place which was burnt down by some scum.

I spent many a happy night in the Horn & Trumpet pub in Surrey Street when I turned 18 in the early 80's. I seem to remember it had two or free floors. I used to attend a CB night there, 10.4 rubber duck.
This photo does not do it justice as it was not as bad as it looks.

Do you remember a clothes shop called Remys (may be spelt differently)
Think there were about three shops, all staffed by Indians who jumped on you as soon as you stepped foot inside.

Plus you had Beanos the record shop.

Does anyone remember the name of the shoe shop? Think it may have been called Doctor something but may be completely wrong.

Don't know about the shoe shop but wasnt there a club down Crown Hill just off Surrey Street called Doctor Jim's??

I also remember a cracking little clothes shop just off North End called Budwalls as well..

Logo 2 was owned by Patos shoes.

There was an amusement arcade game shop almost next door to Remys.

It looks like a painted Ford Capri. I think they only made Ford Escorts in the Mexico style.

Looks like a MK3 Capri from double headlights and bonnet. Painted in the style of a MK1 Mexico.
My mate Chris Moody had a Lime green Mexico and it was the most uncomfortable car I think I’ve ever been in. You got thrown around all over the place and the engine made a right racket. He was always getting pulled over by the Old Bill. I always thought the MK1 was a far nicer car than the MK2 RS2000.

You are correct. The Mexico paint job was never crossed over to the Capri. That body kit on the Capri is not standard either and nor are the headlights. It’s a custom job for sure.

Hewitts were school uniform outfitters in the 60's . they also had a small shop in Pollards Hill.
