A comfortable win.

For those who moan about Sheff U having more possession than us (55-45), Spurs had just 37% today, but still beat Leeds 3-0). It's about what you do with the possession you have. Sheffield Utd didn't do a great deal with theirs and the main reason for that was that we were well organized and limited their shots on goal.

Sheffield Utd have now lost 15 games this season. HOWEVER, we are just the FOURTH team to have beaten them by more than one goal. So for those who are underwhelmed by our achievement today what about those 11 teams who only beat them by one goal (they include, Leeds, Villa, Man C, Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham, Everton, Leicester and Man U)?

We are now more than half way to safety and still 2 more (albeit difficult) away games before we reach the half-way mark in games.

We weren't at our best today, but then we didn't need to be.

Savour the victory and be thankful that we didn't (as many had thought we would) slip up on the |Sheff U banana skin and give them their first win.

There was only ever one winner of that game today. You get a gut feel whilst you are watching a game and today I was never concerned. The blades are a poor side this season and will be relegated.

I can remember getting roasted at home by a very poor bottom of the table Sunderland a couple of seasons ago, so job well done today. Let’s not waste too much time with the Jan window, we need to be focusing on a proper replacement for Roy, in place before the seasons end with a proper transfer budget to boot. Contracts in place for senior retained players, I.e. not Hennessy, Meyer, Van Aanholt, Wickham, Sakho,.

Pack off Bats back to Chelsea, his understanding of the offside rule and how to lead the line is comparable to my son’s U-11s Sunday side who are just playing offside for the first time this season. You explain the same thing to them every week in training, and on match day they just run head first at the goal as soon as the side gets possession. Acceptable in a 10 year old kid perhaps, but would expect an international striker to have figured it out by now. He plays too far up as he has no pace and no presence. Bullet dodged thank god.

I think today if we had more adventurous we could have scored more goals but could easily have conceded as well.I think it was important that we not only won the game at a canter today but also the clean sheet was also very important too. After conceding those ten goals in two games and with difficult games to come this was great to win and give our defence a confidence boost.Tomkins and Kouate look our most assured CB pairing.

Why do you feel the urge to say that?

You have to be having a laugh, apparently on MOTD they had one shot cleared off the line but how on earth does a player who's standing in front of our keeper who uses his legs to block the shot with our keeper in perfect line to stop it anyway constitute off the line? stupidly nuts, once again I'll remind you that we were fouled eighteen times and that doesn't include the ones we didn't get, how many of those were to stop us attacking? ...also one of their players actually said that we should've hacked Eze down to stop him scoring!

Football needs to introduce a form of the sinbin to stop teams cheating every single time they are outpaced or just purely beaten during build up play, it is destroying our game, in he old days teams would be allowed to carry on and if that happened yesterday we may have been able to utilise about four occasions where we managed to pick the ball up after the foul, but you and everyone understands how every team is then afforded to get into position to defend as a whole unit once the foul has been given and everyone knows that is a lot easier to defend then when running back towards your goal!

Oliver Norwood - one of the most atrocious things I've heard in regard to a how to play football.
Yes we know-it-all goes on, but it really shouldn't. For someone to openly say this - and for it to get absolutely no coverage or comment is disgraceful.
Imho, intentional fouling is one of the worst things about the game, alongside diving. The FA should at the very least condemn these comments. And even take some form of action against them.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

Would a sinbin or something similar work then?

Can’t say I agree about the CB pairing - For me it’s Tomkins and Cahill. And then Dann before Kouyate. I would go back to having Luka, McArthur and Kouyate in midfield and have Eze alongside them. Think we need a stronger midfield to accommodate Eze and that may work? Or even play him in his preferred no 10 role and don’t play Zaha? Anyway, back to yesterday which was a win needed after recent thrashings and the Leicester match where they made 7 changes. Still worry that we are so open and make lots of mistakes defending which against prem teams means goals conceded. Luckily Sheffield are a very poor prem team. We shall see in coming matches just how good we are. I’m hoping that even if we get beaten it’s not a thrashing but I’m not hopeful unless we change the formation which I doubt RH will do?

I clocked that as well but they’re deluding themselves. None of them got close enough.

Agree, very happy to see the opposition play it backwards, sideways and sometimes no ways when we are 1 or 2 up.

They can do that all day if they want.
