The fall in UK car production, I wonder if the high cost of EVs and the lack of national infrastructure is impacting sales. I have spoken to a lot of people who are postponing buying a new car because of this. The second hand car market is quite robust which suggests that people are choosing to buy an interim vehicle / old banger so deferring a new car for maybe 5 years? My neighbour (classic little old ladies one owner car had it years) has just been told by her mechanic she would more or less get her money back on her vehicle.

I would take that electric battery company into public ownership/partnership and develop them into the UK No.1 electric battery supplier. It's all set up in an unemployment area I don't really see what's wrong, it was a great idea and we have failed so far so why not. State intervention, the french do it so well, but the govt will oppose for purely ideological reasons. Here is an example of capitalism not working.

This was a start up which had no confirmed customers e.g. car makers, if the government took it over you still would have the same problem and it would be a disaster. The only way to rescue this is for a car maker to take over responsibility with some taxpayer funding. However as this company has been in trouble for over a year I assume that they and the government have failed to find one.

I've just driven past a queue of five electric cars waiting for one of the four charge points at the shopping centre. All four being used. I think they have a time limit. Seems annoying. My diesel's on 186k miles. Good luck to anyone getting that from the EV junk sold at the moment. I will say my car on its last legs. Fingers crossed.

As I understand it there are 2 types of charger trickle feed and fast charge. Trickle feed is ideal if you have off road parking, go home and in the morning your car is charged. So you would think that fast charging would be for public places e.g. car parks however my area we have plenty of public trickle feed and no fast chargers. You couldn't make it up.

A mixed bag about the EU. Apparently people not happy about Brexit but also not keen to rejoin the EU either. It kinda makes sense to me I have not changed my mind about Brexit but I am unhappy at the mess this government is making well about everything really.

Who says we can't go back in the EU? It's our old French mucker, Michel Barnier, and he rates Patrick Vieira too. Q. Is he a secret Palace fan? The door “remains open” for Britain to re-join the European Union at any time, Brussels’ former chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has said. Asked about the prospects of the UK rejoining the EU, he said that is a matter for the British people to decide. 'The door on the EU side will remain open any time – we are all better off together'. So there we are it is not a fait accompli at all.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say we couldn't return, don't want to yes or the EU will make us pay by forcing us to take the euro and join Schengen and no rebate. Of course the EU would like us back they are missing our money but it's not going to happen any time soon as the public does not have the appetite as last weeks opinion poll showed. They are fed up with Brexit but there is no groundswell additional support for re-joining. My own guess is that the establishment will try and lead us down a path that will eventually lead to us re-joining a stealth policy if you like.
