The Bank of England seems fairly optimistic.

Chris Patten? The guy who told us to invest in China after giving Hong Kong away? That it was going to become a friend.

Yeah alright Steely.....I'll pass on that one.

The BOE widely held responsible for exacerbating inflation with its 'lax monetary policy'.

I thought they were responsible for inflation?

But not accountable, of course.

Must be very lax if it's also responsible for the 17 European countries with a higher inflation rate.

Australian Channel 9 TV reporters fall about laughing trying to think of any UK product that Australia would want, and if it would be British anyway.

'Spice girls CDs, English Breakfast tea, don't be hard on them'.

Uncomfortable viewing, and its an Ashes summer to boot.

UK exports to Australia in 2022 were £10.6 billion, they are 20th in who we export to.
UK imports from Australia in 2022 were £4.4 billion, they are 36th in who we import from.

Patten is a self serving idiot, he screwed up Hong Kong and spent the rest of his time doing a Kinnock and head in the EU trough.

He is still widely despised in Hong Kong but he suggests to anyone who will listen he is a Sino expert.

He was often pissed and had a large number of Hong Kong Police searching for his lost dogs named Whiskey and Soda not surprisingly.

I met him a few times which was a few times too many.

He was always fishing for directorships

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Interesting.

The Aussie and Kiwi deal only became active on June 1st so I suggest we give it at least 2/3 years before we can decide if these deals were a failure or not.

Make a diary note
