Will you girls all grow up and stop being so petty. ‘You said...’ ‘I said...’ ‘he said it first’ bla bla bla. Listen to yourselves.

Get on topic and stick with it. If you want to debate, debate. Cut the ridiculous arguments and accept other might have a different opinion to you.

For me, Roy’s worked wonders and behold a professional squad with no money spent. We’ve been lucky to have him. I do reckon he’s thinking of leaving though and I wish him well. I’m excited for our next step and the opportunity to freshen things up in time for fans returning.

I just hope if Roy is to leave (and it's sadly looking more likely), that it'll be of his own accord and not us pushing him out the door. I suspect Parish is aware of a vocal section of fans but I would hope he doesn't pander to them as Roy has done an excellent job.

If he wants to stay, he should be given a go with any potential investment. He's earned that considering the budget he's worked with over the last 4 years.

If we are pushing him before he wants to jump, it would be a real lack of class for me & very disappointing as a club. He's been top drawer for us and put us in an excellent position. Great manager & a gent.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Neillo - I can see entirely where you are going with this - so at the end of the season we are comfortably mid table, so what's all the fuss about..??

Which is a true analogy - if you believe that the end justify the means..!!

Then beyond that and probably more relevant if those means are sustainable and therein lies the problem - IMO they are not..!!

LBH - we've had some really lucky results this season e.g. Brighton away for one and then at the start of the season we caught a few teams cold with minimal pre-season preparation.

In between times there have been some really horrific/ turgid performances, where at times we have been tactically totally inept and that's due to Roy.

So IMO it's a simple question do you believe that Roy and his "conservative" and "defence first" tactics, despite us having the 4th worst defensive record in the league is the way forward..

Or do you think a new more expansive Manager with different and more creative ideas is the way to go.

I'm in the latter camp - IMO Roy's race is run and done - but as I said that's my opinion..!!

Today would suggest that when the defensive shackles are released we are a far better team and certainly more entertaining to watch..!!

But it comes down to whether you believe that Roy will continue and build on performances like today or just revert to type..!!

My opinion of Roy is that he just too stubborn and will always revert to type.

Hence I believe it's time for change and that time is now..!!

COYP

That was partially what I was getting at. The point I was trying to make was that your 18 month downward trend statement doesn't stack up.

And yes, the ends do justify the means. How many times does it need to be said that the first priority for our club is to stay in the Premier League ?? Now you may not be happy with that and it does say a lot about the short term ambition at Palace. But it is a fact. Hodgson has consistently achieved his main objective, so if you were doing his job, would you be willing to change and therefore risk not achieving that main objective ??

You should know ( assuming you read my posts ! ) that I have agreed that the entertainment value that go alongside Roy's tactics is minimal. Yes, I wish we played with more ambition - as we did in the second half today - but I know it's unlikely to happen while the focus is on the race for 40 points.

We have taken some bad beatings this season which always makes things feel worse. Just about all the pundits have commented on how out of character our defending has been for a Hodgson team. But is it any wonder when we have 4 central defenders, all 30plus and all injury prone ? Not the only reason, but a big factor in my view.

I think Roy will move on and it is about time the club was re set to run on more than just a 12 month basis. Whoever comes in has a big rebuild on their hands. And that of course is a result of the way the club has been run and not of Hodgson's making. And therein is the rub - a new man may get access to the kind of investment that Hodgson has not had.

I don't envy Parish having to make the decision...

I am getting the feeling from listening to Roy that he has had discussions with Parish and has been kept in the loop regarding a new manager or maybe not a new manager. It looks to me that Roy will happily step aside if the correct person is found but if not then Roy will sign a new contract.

I really can't see what is motivating Roy to continue. If he wanted to prove a point after the England fiasco is 2014 and 2016 then he should probably have left after two seasons with us, and his head held high.

He got it right yesterday. Playing Eze through the middle reverts back to a set up we had when Puncheon was still performing. It suits Zaha and Benteke.

A great game for Mitchell too. PVA was only dropped due to personal issues apparently. How does a player thats been playing so badly for so long and doesn't want a new contract get selected?

We played for 3 points, rather than just a draw. We came out of the game with 3 points. Had we taken the usual negative approach we'd have come out with 0.

Had we taken that approach for the last two seasons we'd have a much happier set of fans. Instead we played within ourselves for the fear we need to get 40 points before we can try and play with any attacking intent. We have been set up too defensively and not posed enough of a threat to opposition defences. Without trying to pose any threat we've been easy pickings.

I'm happy to congratuate Roy on yesterday's performance, and I have previously on the few times he's got things right. However, it's a bit like praising the slow kid for catching up with the rest of the class.

Others seem blind to his massive failures, but seem to think he deserves huge amounts of praise each time we beat the likes of Sheffield United.

We need to play 3 players in midfield, one of them needs to be attack minded.

He's the last person to think like that. He continues because he genuinely loves it, not to prove anyone wrong or settle old scores.

I think it would possibly be different if he were just a manager, but he's involved in all aspects of the coaching and training so i presume still gets a lot of enjoyment out of that.

Absolutely.

Which begs the question if we replace Roy (which I wouldn't) why bother getting in a new manager at all?

you may have struck on something here. Perhaps we should make the manager's position redundant and let the players figure it out each week. Would get a few mil off of the wage bill.

I personally wish Roy all the very best and hopefully we can see him back at Selhurst Park in the right time to receive the appropriate public thanks for everything he has done for the club with his inimitable class, experience and wisdom.

As we look forward to the rest of the season, this is a balanced outlook: [Link]

Yes all the very best to Roy. There is no doubt it is time to move forward as a club and this is the right decision for all.

That being said he really is one of our own. He has had an amazing journey in his career and his impact on stabilising our club has been hugely significant.

I hope he will always be remembered fondly by the fans for what he did over his time with us.

Thank you Roy and I look forward to seeing you happy and healthy again on our screens in the near future
