Including the goalkeeper 9 of the 11 starting eleven were either in their 30s or going to be 30 this year.
Having to cover spaces and compete against a Man C team who move the ball so well is energy sapping.
Once we got the ball we couldn't get up the pitch and it really was like a training session for Man C.Our players must have been totally fatigued at the end of the game.

Worrying times. I’m hoping that Meyer has been moved out so that we can get a more dynamic midfield player in this window.

We don’t have the players at the moment to player further up the pitch either from a midfield or defensive perspective.

This game was proof that a team full of "elderly statesmen" is not enough to keep us in PL. And Ward, MacArthur, Cahill, McCarty, Ayew is not getting younger. Please, please start introducing some younger players to the team - this dross will not carry us much longer.
Still, if we can win 4 of the last 19 games we ought to stay up. but my dearest these Hodgson tactics make you little to be proud of.
And as someone pointed out -most of the City goals were due to simple mistakes on our part. What was Townsend thinking when he just let Gundogan in for the second, MacArthurs cross that was picked up for the first, and Luka gave away a corner after his own passing mistake? Not to mention McCarty and that stupid push for the 4th?

I have repeatedly referred to our aged squad as 'Dad's Army' and it contains players who are in the 'Twilight' of their careers and past their best.
Overall I don't hold it in as high a regard as perhaps many of our supporters.

I have had conversations with many who are not supporters and many have raised eyebrows at my judgement.
They have uttered words along the lines of "You have Sakho, Benteke, Batshuayi, Milivojevic, Townsend" etc etc. I then have to inform them that some of the players they mention are certainly NOT the players they were in their pomp.

I keep mentioning about the aged squad, and the fact that their physicality will be tested even more this unusual season.
Players in the 'Twilight' of their careers are more susceptible to injury and injuries take longer to heal than they once did earlier in their careers.

I have been deeply concerned about our prospects this season but I suppose I have been dismissed as a doom monger spouting more abject negativity!

You missed the part where he said it’d be naive of him to think we’d pick up points against Arsenal and City.

I’ve read the transcript of his post match and I think it’s a disgrace, might not be the only one.

This reflects in his pre-match interviews too, having given glowing compliments for the opposition and opposition managers (Arteta especially the other day) - in addition to his remarks about how talented and brilliant John Stones is after the game today.

I do believe we should always show respect to the opponent, but Roy is basically delivering the motivation and belief to the other side to come out and beat us.

Message to SP. Steve why did you buy the silly old buzzard a quality young player like Eze. You knew he would knock all the flair out of him didnt you? We need two or three more like this boy to start going anywhere but please dont buy them for Roy because they would be on the bench at best

Forget tonight. They are so many levels above us it's untrue.
West Ham and Wolves home next two. Need a win in one of those games and we are fine.
Let's all be realistic, we have a chronic lack of investment and the squad is old. I'm glad Roy said Wilf had a 'knock' we need him for the next two important games. Finishing 13th and above this season is success.
Don't like it? Support someone else.

Spot on. Many slow moving, slow reacting, Championship level players on their last legs. It's like trying to keep a worn out old banger running.

Agreed. Why not negotiate before the game to give them the 3 points and not bother to play so to save us fans the trouble, time and anguish?

I SUPPORT PALACE. Finishing 11th or lower this season is Hodgeson type failure. Get some ambition man, and stop making excuses for privileged incompetence!!
