Not sure if this is more for the Nostalgia board, but thought some might wish to see this I found today:

I also found this programme from the game, the reverse of which lists the teams:

Way before my time, and the only name I know is Johnny Byrne, but interesting anyway. Seemingly filmed from the main stand before the Arthur Waite stand was built.

Thanks so much for posting that. I was at the game. Both teams were in Division 3, but Portsmouth had just come down from Division 2 and returned at the end of the season as champions. We had just come up from Division 4. We had lost the league game at Selhurst just six weeks earlier so the cup result was a pleasant surprise.

Is it me or did we play with wingers back then.
Maybe we could try it again

Yep, the good old days. Two fullbacks, a centre half, two wing halves, a centre forward, two inside forwards and two wingers. Perhaps we should have tried that against City. It would certainly have confused them

Here's some footage from a Division 4 game in April that same year, with commentary. Ray Colfar, who died recently, features in what was his penultimate game for us.

Look at that pitch, like a farmers field!

Yes, men were men back then. They didn't need to play on a bowling green

Stinker of a pitch. We could certainly do with Johnny Byrne now.

This was before the Big Match, Match of the Day etc. so what programme would this have been broadcast on?
