Younger team, gaps to fill

GK Butland FB Ferguson, Mitchell CB Mid Riedewald, Eze, Banks Wide Schlupp Forward Zaha, Mateta Could do with some young centre backs - not much available in the U23s, although Kouyate and Tomkins at 31 have a few years left yet. Could do with a bit more bite in terms of defensive midfielders, and a good right sided wide player. Piece together some cover from our aging crop of players / those out of contact in the summer, and I think we are only 3 or 4 players away from having a good nucleus going forward. Lets hope Mateta gives us a bit more up front than we have used to these last few seasons.

He's come on since last year when I wasn't that impressed with him. If we get enough points to be safe early enough, he ought to be given some outings. He'll need time to get used to the PL, so don't expect too much too soon.

Centre half Jay Rich Baghuelou was signed beginning of this season I think as well and is a big lump. Not sure how he has performed for the U23s however he is supposed to be very imposing. Anyone seen anything of him?
