Deep fakes going forward are definitely a concern.

I think genuine broadcasts will probably come with some form of watermark.

The amusing thing here is that Biden appears to have always harboured a dislike of Facebook, and Zuckerberg. So much so that he is reportedly seeking a way to bring them down a peg or two. Not sure how that plays to the rights narrative around the left/social media. Not saying that it's not left leaning but the situation is not as binary as Left = love in, Right = censored.

It is also worth remembering that for all the Trump rhetoric about Facebook et al, his content was consistently amongst the highest read/engaged with, despite the sometimes over zealous claims of censorship amongst some pockets of the right. Maybe that made him reticent about publicly going for them, when he knew he needed them for his re-election campaign. Even if he'd won I doubt he would have done anything serious. Why bite the hand that feeds you?

I may be wrong to state upfront as I’ve only read, halfheartedly, snippets of this, but my impression was that Biden wants social media to held more accountable for what is posted on there, so more censorship. Happy to be challenged as said not exactly we’ll read on this.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think that would traditionally be the position but I think there is now a growing realisation amongst the left or right normies....even if the left are in power in the states (and in many senses here)....that globalism (which is just another manifestation of financial elites) truly rules the system much more than any political figurehead.

Nothing really changes as the system is made to suit those financial elites and not the plebs.....no one is draining no swamp.

Even though both Trump and Corbyn were political enemies and see the world very differently they both had that anti globalist footing in common. Even though Trump was far more half hearted in reality than Corbyn would have been.....because as we know, Trump wasn't a globalist but he was an elite and so he was never going to meteorically be the Turkey who voted for Christmas.

Yes I agree, that's what I'm saying really. It all comes back to the money. It brings with it almost infinite opportunities for influence at every level on a global scale. Politicians here and abroad are pathetically paid off for peanuts or there's dirt used to control them (which will likely get worse in the social media age where anything you say from day dot is no doubt logged somewhere in case it's ever needed) or attractive job offers at the end of their career if they play the game.

The whole system has no use for principled or ordinary people, or those wishing to improve the lot of the average man. A game rigged more and more every time you pay it.

I agree. But what we're seeing already could well be the result of the deep fake technology.
Off the top of my head some events that may require further scrutiny are last month's Queen's Christmas message, the London New Year's Eve firework display and...
...more importantly and on topic...
...last week's inauguration.

Have a close look at Biden's Oval Office and then investigate Castle Rock Productions, California.

This is an unnerving technology. The problem even now is that in such a polarised environment people just tend to take what they 'wish to believe' at face value. So with that in mind, if it 'looks like' someone is saying something that may well be good enough for them. 'A lie will fly around the whole world while the truth is getting its boots on' as the saying goes'.

The watermark idea stated may well be the direction as travel to at least maintain the ability to be somewhat tethered to reality. Analysing and verifying footage will itself become big business. Strange times ahead.

I don't think the technology is quite good enough right now to escape such scrutiny.

I get the idea that with enough effort all of these can be faked with today's technology.

However, the Queen has been reading the scripts of her bosses for decades now, so I hardly think they need to fake anything. She would literally say anything as long as it ensured the Monarchy continued.

I never saw the fireworks display myself so while I could see how that could easily be faked I would question as to the purpose.....well, I suppose it would have saved quite a lot of money.

The problem you have with faking the inauguration is with numbers. For example, the inauguration had over 60 thousand enforcement officers when you add both Police and Military. Those people exist just as much as the politicians do and as you know, most of them would have voted republican.

If that event was faked, you couldn't have kept the grass roots of the military quiet.

I think you need to accept that if 'Q' were real, the takeover would have happened long since before now.

I have been told by a friend that there are a number of fake p*** videos doing the rounds that claim to be, amongst other, Kate Middleton, Sharon from Eastenders and various other middle aged female celebrities that are very difficult to tell whether they are true or fake. I agree its very worrying.

I'm not saying what the Queen said was faked.
Consider she was really unable to deliver ithe speech in a way we've been accustomed to and the bosses, as you called them, decided the populace aren't ready to hear why she can't deliver it, but need to show something all the same.
You're right it's probably dead easy to fake the fireworks. Apparently it happened in Seattle too.
With regard to the inauguration, I don't think it was entirely faked but if you know a little bit about continuity, like they do in the movies, then someone needs to be sacked! If you look closely enough there's mistakes a plenty.

I'm delighted, BlueJay, that you're open enough to accept there may well be something at play here.
