Maybe it'll just come down to simple solutions like official broadcasts twittering what the background will be thirty seconds before release as a way of identifying fakes.

That would work well for live broadcasts, but most people just watch stuff after the fact on Youtube and the like. It could lead to further censorship as they would say that they are 'protecting people' from false information and so have to ban anything that doesn't have an official stamp of approval. So that would be troubling.

We see with all of this Q stuff, that people are easily taken in, hell to a lesser degree that even goes for those who especially nail their colours to a particular party or ideology. It's as much that people aren't that bothered if something is true, if it makes their 'side' look good. That is very much a worry in an era of deepfakes. When people are polarised they are easy to mess with and their own worst enemy. If anything it's something Governments benefit from because it allows them to clamp down in all manner of ways while pretending its for benign reasons.

There would need to be an effort to take down fakes after the broadcast certainly. I'm sure there are lots of avenues to think about for those paid to solve these things.

As you know I'm very against censorship, but not for deliberate impersonation to deceive, which has always been illegal.

The 'Q' situation falls down into the conspiracy theory category for me. As with all conspiracy theories, some people who follow it won't take it all that seriously and just enjoy the intrigue while others will take it as kosher.....and of course a few theories that were called conspiracies turn out to be true, years later....Yes, the CIA were trying to kill Castro, Yes, the allies were building the H bomb.....Iran/Contra turned out be true....it happens.

People often believe things with little rational underpinning to back the beliefs up. Religions fall under that category, also even our political beliefs are often influenced more by emotional attachment than by what might be better for us or society in general.

Anyway impeachment has been sent to Congress....where it's going to die on its arsse.

A complete waste of time when there's a country to run.

It's just going to strengthen Trump with his supporters, whilst the people who spent their lives validating themselves by hating Trump can continue in the same vain. Completely pointless and counter productive. Glad they're healing the wounds.
If they want to 'deal' with Trump, clearly the way is to ignore him. Obviously this regime is either too stupid or too vindictive to recognise that. Or both.

Biden signed a new executive order yesterday with regards to "Racial Equity".

You have to hand it to the left, they are so sly with their newspeak terms, how quickly "Racial Equality" became "Racial Equity".

Equality is treating everyone the same regardless of need, while equity achieves this through treating people differently dependent on need.

Equality of opportunity out the door, equality of outcome in.

Sadly this is not how any systems in nature work and will only increase racial tensions.

I actually think the GOP have been put in a tricky spot, since the party is pretty split on Trump. To my mind they'll want to appear 'against' this process, while hoping that it pushes Trump out of politics.

To my mind it's incredibly unlikely that they'll vote to convict, but at the same time I can see there being a vote to bar Trump from serving in public office and that succeeding. That would likely only need a simple majority, and hence not really any direct GOP support, and would wreck any hopes of Trump leading another party (which could take away a substantial number of GOP voters), while the blame would largely not fall at Republicans feet. The best of best worlds.

That's not to say that it would be the last we say of him. He'll most likely align more closely with a Fox competitor and possibly Jnr has designs on running politically.

Where this would go reminds me of Le Penn. Get rid of the old, racist guy and put in the young, pretty, nationalist daughter. In Trump's case one of his kids - presumably the presentable daughter. Again, if the US parties can't see that, then they are very short sighted.

Agreed. Impeachment is a political process to stop a sitting President abusing his power. If Trump has done wrong then pursue him through the law courts.

As Marx said, socialism was a stage along the way to communism.

However, this is towards the evolved Chinese 'communism' form of corporate control working with government and social credit scores.

So the rich get to stay rich, while the middle get squeezed with the working classes and basically via indoctrination and punishment are reduced to a drone class.

In the states the only thing in their way is the 2nd amendment.....I predict that you will soon see them start a purge of right wingers in the military.

Which they will of course call extremists.

I know people are saying this but I can't see it happening myself.

While she looks extremely good for a night in the hay when you hear her speak she doesn't have any charisma and while laudably loyal she is far more liberal than her father......So I don't see her getting any serious traction come the shake up....Donald Jnr has more chance but again, he's too normie GOP.....The Jed Bush type isn't going to cut it.

It's 'red meat' to their supporters.

As is normally the case, it's ok when they do it....The Democrats have made a mockery of the impeachment process during the Trump presidency.

If the Republicans do win the mid terms (which I don't expect) then you'll see a tic for tat.
