Biden administration
On February 13, 2021, President Joe Biden formally nominated Levine to be Assistant Secretary for Health.[4] She would be the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the Senate.[5][6] Her confirmation hearing was on February 25 with the Senate HELP Committee.[14]

That youtube clip is very scary indeed

Some good points raised there. Would be interested to hear a response rather than just evasion, although I assume that line of questioning was not the purpose of the exchange.

Basically I agree – transferring the power of decision from parent to minor regarding whether they want to take hormone altering drugs or worse, is not a good idea. Once they're legally old enough to do so, sure, whatever, their decision. But if the standard is parental approval whilst still a minor, then that's what it should be. And with good reason.

All that matters is power, who has it and who doesn't.

Pretty good summary of the state of the GOP. More or less aligns with your point about the Republican party split.

'If more than 50% of the country is solidly behind the democrats then what you're left to work with is between 35% and 45% of the electorate. Based on the way the United States hold elections it is possible to win the presidency and the Senate while only being elected by 45% of the population. The GOP obviously considers this a crucial feature that is in no way being exploited beyond its original purpose. So as a conservative campaign manager you realize that there are basically three paths for you to achieve that crucial 50% to 45% percent support. You can either try and swing towards the middle and gain the votes of moderates and independents. Or you can try and cater to the traditional GOP. Finally, you can pander to the MAGA crowd. Which do you choose?

If you chose the first one then you'll be very disappointed because your won't ever win the general election. Because they are moderate and aimed towards the middle they won't energize the MAGA base and they won't show up to vote. Instead they'll stay home and you'll pull a John McCain. Let's say that you aim to please the traditional GOP. Well, if you do that you'll be advocating for policy positions that moderates and the MAGA crowd both definitely hate such as compassionate conservatism (where you strongly encourage Latinos to join the party). You'll also be suggesting things like getting rid of social security or reducing government programs. So basically, you don't attract moderates because you're proposing the destruction of popular government programs and you alienate the MAGA group because you are trying to grow the conservative tent. This is what happened to Jeb Bush.

Then their is the MAGA option. If you say what they want to hear, and you promise them government intervention against the 'right' people and the 'right' programs then they will love you. The more combative and caustic you are the better. Once more, this group will have ridiculous levels of turnout for you and so long as you say the right words they'll do absolutely anything for you. This group though only makes up around 30% of the population though. So how do you win? Simply tell the traditional conservatives that you'll give them something. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, simply tell them that you'll appoint their judges and sign-off on their laws and they'll grit their teeth and vote for you. Bam, you're now at 45% of the electorate! Congratulations, this is how Trump became president.

Basically, since the MAGA crowd makes up more than 50% of the GOP now they are the demographic that everyone has to cater to. If you do, well you might win an election. Again, might. Winning a U.S. election without winning the popular vote is a bit like threading a needle. If you don't, well you'll almost certainly lose.'

People like that in power will permanently destroy vulnerable easily influenced lives.

That's going to be a legacy of Biden and the progressives in general.

My view is that anything that involves screwing around with hormones or physical surgery can only be made by the individual as an adult.

Propaganda that encourages children to view themselves as a changeable entity should be banned. The implications are far too permanent.....I view this propaganda as a form of predation.

As for parents, there are now a demographic of parents, near exclusively progressive, who have been encouraged to view gender very loosely and who would view female tom boyish or male effeminate behaviour as evidence of being born into the wrong sex.....as if that even is a thing.

So I would have a far less trusting view of parents.....or indeed 'progressives' in the medical industry.

Absolutely agree on the first point.

As for essentially banning promotion of trans gender issues, can't agree totally on that one. Targeting of minors from a cynical place rather than a genuine one shouldn't be allowed and no doubt happens but I'm not sure how you'd stop it.

As for the parents point, sure, but ultimately they're adults – they can make their own decisions. And the individuals involved, they certainly can. Up to them if they decide they want to change and benefit from it or later regret it... entirely their mistake to make.

But yeah broadly pushing it or selling it in rather than providing balanced information when approached is not on. On any topic – it happens everywhere. The medical profession in partnership with the pharmas generally has been known to do it for decades. It's cultural.

I'd agree, the days where the moderate can lead a party successfully are in the past.

For the moderate to be successful you need a cohesive society and only the mistaken views America that way....and the west lags behind but is heading the same way.

There are several reasons behind why societies are less cohesive and why that less cohesive state will only increase, however I don't want to bang the same drums here.

What I will say is that I don't see the GOP ever getting back into national government personally.

It doesn't matter who leads it.

Transgenderism has to be kept to the adult community in my view.

It's promotion further than this has come from the progressives and more sensible voices on the left have been crowded out, which was always going to happen.

Children are easily influenced and suggestable and looking for guidance and can have their lives wrecked by those with agendas...whether it's their parents or funded bodies....when it comes to the permanently physical it should be off the table.

Just as we protect children from bad choices in other areas this should be a fundamental one.

But instead we have the Biden administration deliberately going down this route.....which I regard as child abuse.

Also I may add more pertinently is his embrace of the #metoo movement, but not a word, nothing, nada, zilch, on the golden boy of the Democrat Party Gov Andrew Cuomo & his accusations by three women (so far)
When this clown Cuomo was being lauded last year as a savior for Covid I said then he was a shyster & scumbag & have been proven right.
The same goes with Biden, he's a dead man walking he'll be replaced as President within six months.
