Most Americans don’t get very much paid leave, about 10 days I think. Take out family commitments and they don’t have much opportunity to travel abroad.
Travelling is for pleasure. If anyone can gain much insight into another country after spending two weeks in a hotel then fair play to them.

Yes, and they work boxing day, never got my head around that. I always heard 9 out of 10 americans don"t have passports.

Well I don't celebrate or take the day off on Columbus Day or on Eid? The only holiday where nearly everyone living here will adhere to is probably July 4th & Thanksgiving.
Anyway I thought you Paddies called it St Stephen's Day? Go into any bar in NYC on the 26th December & believe me you'll see loads of people on Boxing Day taking the day off & not just us British or you Irish.

Yeah most companies it’s only 10 days. The whole work/life balance thing we have over in Europe (the continent are better at it than us) doesn’t seem to have permeated over the pond yet. A lot of it is to do with health insurance - Americans petrified of losing their jobs/careers and being uninsured for medical treatment. Gives a lot more power to the employer to dictate terms.

Glad to hear it Jim, long may it continue, the thought of watching "on the buses ",with a beer on christmas night, knowing I have work at 6am, just doesn"t appeal!

Not quite sure what you get from it.

No argument at all. I post some facts, someone else contradicts them with incorrect information, uses expletives as part of the mix and I then back up my original comment with more facts. I think you're referencing the wrong poster here, go back and read the comments.

So Lichtenstein is comparable to "Most EU countries"?

Of course when you say Countries you actually mean states? As you're all sucking from the same E.U.Cock.
Most EU countries you can probably drive across in 45 Minutes so no real comparison.
of the 26 countries (or should I say states) you could fit most into Texas & still have room.

Europe : 10.2 million sqKM
United States : 9.8 million sqKM
Lichtenstein : 0.00016 million sqKM (160sqKM)

Here's a tip, when you're way out of your depth in a debate, best to leave it.

By the way, there are 27 sovereign countries that are members of the EU, not 26 and it's the largest and most successful trading bloc in the world.

Seems like a bit of a pedant point to make a big meal of it.

But I get it, handbags over nit picking is a fine forum tradition.
