I have never heard any climate scientist try to deny that natural warming and cooling has occurred in the past, and will again. It takes millions of years for these to occur, and we may be in a natural cooling cycle now, which is being mitigated, or over-ridden, by human activity.

The current global warming isn't natural. It's man made, and started when humans began agriculture, but has accelerated since the industrial revolution.

This is happening at speed, and not over millions of years. How we would deal with another ice age is for the future, if we can ensure there is one. We might have to all move to warm locations and eat new sources of food, limit our numbers, or even find a new planet to live on. A few thousand years from now, who knows what might be possible. In a million, even the impossible becomes plausible, like the new stand getting built and Palace winning the Champions League.

There is no consensus on climate science. The consensus (unsurprisingly) only exists only in corporate media. There can never be a consensus on science because that's not how science is supposed to work.

By the way, we did survive the previous ice age, if you were not aware, with pretty much zero technology.

What the elites want to happen is fed down to us as the mainstream messaging, whether that's good for you or not, whether it's true or not....in my view it's largely not good for the majority but that's something else.

Is climate change real? I think there is truth to it, but as predictions have proven over the decades most of what you hear is hyperbole and designed to convince you on a position. However, I do think human activity affects the environment....the atmosphere is comprised of gas, large inputs into it will affect it over time...The extent and how much change is needed can be debated but I don't think that's a radical belief or attaches itself to left or right, dissident or otherwise.

I think moving away from fossil fuels or indeed any finite resource is just common sense for a myriad of reasons. Not least that reducing supply increases the likelihood of resource wars. However, fossil fuel works and you can't just decide that you can flip a switch in relative terms and not reduce large numbers of people to suffering. It's like no one cares about history.

Personally I regard the advocating for green energy as woefully inadequate and criminally costly for the masses. Investment there should mainly be left to the private sector. However the elites have decided....as they tend to on anything....that the common working man/woman should be made to pay for their decisions.

Safe nuclear has to be the main road and I think France have been proven correct for successfully committing to this decades ago, all while we wavered and fudged.....now our costs are ridiculous and it's the fault of our elites, who retired and aren't made to answer.

We are ruled by low quality elites who always do their best to dodge responsibility for anything.

They have been locked into managed decline for generations and talk utter drivel.

So if in 20 years the earth started cooling what would you say caused it?
Btw science isn’t proved by the numbers on one side.

Among respected experts, there is complete consensus on the under-lying truth that it is real. Differences exist only on the scale and pace, but they are marginal. That there are a few who claim to be experts putting up alternative theories is just par in today's world. Vested interests seek out such people.

Of course, we survived the last ice age. We could survive another, as a species, but in vastly decreased numbers. Not everywhere became uninhabitable.

Nothing. Until the trend was at least 100 years old. This is not a short term issue. It is just much quicker than the arrival of ice ages, because of human activity which didn't exist before.

Science is supported by evidence, and there is evidence aplenty for man-made climate change.

Evidence that Man made it all up?
You may be on to something there, Wisbech.

Buying a property in Iceland would probably make your grand-children multi-millionaires.

But the sound of the tills would probably put them off.

On a more serious note I think many people are probably underestimating...thanks to media messaging.....the high probability that technology will emerge....some of which is already here that can work against climate change. It is not a static situation and lots of R&D is already invested.

Well if they can make co2 scrubbers for a shuttle then I’m sure they can make bigger ones, bearing in mind CO2 is 2 parts oxygen to 1 part carbon.
As I posted before, follow the money

Sleepy joe was running his mouth off again, this time over Taiwan. As I predicted, despite what his sleepy versions on here think, there is now massive concern over China.....not surprising.

Common sense tells....well those with common sense just how dangerous things are now.

WH have once again had to clarify his comments by saying he meant military support not boots on the ground over a conflict.

Can you imagine the Democratic media if this had been Trump?

Imagine if Putin had said that he was going to militarily respond to western arms, or Finland, or Turkey and the Russian foreign ministry or Lavrov had to constantly correct the record.

The press would be saying Moscow is in chaos or a coup.

Yet Biden gets a pass because the truth is the whole administration is incompetent and most of the media are lackeys......the only real hope is in the Pentagon.

Putin has literally repeatedly teased the idea of a nuclear response to get the West to back down over his invasion of his neighbour. I'm not sure that the idea of him saying something much dialled down in comparison intentionally or in error would shock anyone, nor would Lavrov's take on it add much anyway as he's as ludicrous and inflammatory in his conduct as Putin. As much as Punch and Judy 'teams' takes on the complete mess that is US politics are clearly some peoples cup of tea, let's not let hatred of domestic or western political parties sugar coat, or repeatedly create a delusion air of respectability towards someone like Putin and his conduct.

The Kremlin has made plenty of aggressive statements then partially rowed them back. Europe as a whole is pretty much on the same page about its view of Putin's conduct. As for Trump, who may yet win 2024, he's already suggested threatening Russia with nuclear subs as well as bombing them so it's hardly like there's a sober political voice of reason out there for either party. And besides, this cowering, quaking take that we should perpetually be careful in every single thing we say, when Russia is the opposite of that in what they actually 'do' with their smash and grab approach is hardly a show of strength. Americas military might speaks for itself anyway no matter what any President of the day says in the moment.
