Looks like multiple countries had reasons to opt for the wet market theory. I have no idea either way, but there's been little transparency and it's a worry that we don't know more. If it's from nature than that's hardly reassuring, and if it's from a lab then it's deeply disturbing that we could have a repeat on a whim.

Apparently, a majority of Republicans still believe Trump won the election and is about to start "rallies" again. The country remains very divided. Biden's plans are all going to run up against the brick wall of the Senate and its voting rules. One Democrat seems to vote with the GOP a lot of the time, so even the straight votes are not achievable. Voters have short memories and a quick way to blame failure. Trump may not be POTUS again, but he could be a King-maker and also have a significant impact on the mid-terms, which would likely move the GOP even further away from its traditional stance. I just hope the court cases proceed with all possible speed, and he gets tangled up in, and by, them.

Is a fair point and a good basis for a conspiracy theory. However, it's not evidence, co-incidences happen all the time and there are many Institutes of Virology around the world. So ask the questions by all means, but don't provide answers unless they are based on facts.

I suppose we could say that we don't 100% know it originated from Wuhan, or that instead wet market conditions could be responsible. However, I agree in that the idea that it could've escaped from a lab has to be considered a possibility unless there is convincing, scientific (rather than so far, political) reasons for it not to be the case. It's not as if China would ever admit it even if they knew it was the case, so we have to work with that in mind.

I certainly wouldn't say that there is an answer either way, but I also don't think it can be factually stated that it came from nature or a wet market. As such there is a legitimacy to asking questions where there are possibilities that require genuine investigation rather than what we've seen (more akin to glossing over).

If it was natural why has it taken so long to hit society. The far east have been stuffing themselves on bats and anything that live(s,d) for years. To suddenly jump between species and be so dangerous at its first attempt is unbelievable, or not actually what happened.

The balance of probability is that it came from the lab; this is what they were studying and this type of bat was being used in the research.
