Started going to Palace games in 84/85, some of my fondest memories were the teams that Noades helped to assemble.
No hate towards Ron from me.

I have not been aware of any such valuation.

My understanding is that Noades was informed that CPFC was valued at £18 Mill but to sell £10 Mill of shares making the total value £28 Mill
Goldberg offered £30 Mill but a deal was agreed at £22.8 Mill.On completion, Goldberg had £18 Mill and Noades lent him £5 Mill to seal the deal.

In terms of 'Selhurst Park', Noades never set out to own the ground after he sold the club.He offered a package on a 5 year deal but this never came to fruition so Noades retained ownership of the ground.

This was some time ago and my memory is not what it used to be in my pomp but this is my recollection of events.

Football clubs are difficult to value, similar to players, so it's often what someone is prepared to pay.
Noades didn't want to sell so Goldberg 'had' to offer silly money, hence the £30m bid.
Most of Goldberg's money was tied up in share in his IT recruitment company - he owed 3m shares and their value went up from £1 to over £10 at one point.
He did a deal to sell 2m at £9.50 netting him £19m but as part of the deal the other million couldn't be sold for a minimum of 12 months.
That's why Noades, who by now had decided to sell, offered to restructure the deal to get the price down.
He took the freehold out of the deal, Palace's biggest asset, and also the newly acquired training ground at cost.
At this point Goldberg should have walked away as effectively he was buying the club's name and players only.
Of course the deal was done and he was unable to borrow as Palace had no assets. Additionally when the internet bubble burst his shares fell to less than a quid so his war chest was empty.
Noades pursued Goldberg for the extra money and forced him to declare himself bankrupt.

Noades was a strange character.

Great businessman who was a multi millionaire.

I have heard some of the golf stories and he does not come out of them looking good - an arrogant cunit.

I also remember him at the Fairfield Halls talking with such contempt for the supporters - he was like a James Bond baddie!

Still believe he missed a chance at the end of 90/91. Sign Rod Wallace for £2m instead of Leeds and we would have had half a chance of keeping Wrighty.

A front line of those two, Bright and Salako would have been some attack with Gray and Thomas in midfield. We would have definitely had a chance of Europe.

Like many thousands of others I queued for hours at ‘stupid o/clock’ to get my cup final ticket in 1990. Ron Noades came out of the club and walked down the queue chatting to every one that he could.
He went up in my estimation that day.
He had his faults, let’s face it, who doesn’t?
But he did a hell of a lot for our club.
We should be thankful.

Went up in my estimation at this time to, I lost my semi final stub to get a final ticket, went through an "opening" and ended up in his office, think it was a portacabin at the whitehorse end up steps, anyway, his secretary told me to get lost, Ron asked me what was the problem? Told him lost stub, he just gave me a piece of paper saying give him a final ticket! Secretary nearly broke down crying, nooooooo RON, nooooooooo- but i said thanks Ron, and fcuked off.Took his son back to the house on the webb estate with his cycle from central London one night, a policeman, nice fella, nice house!

Ron Noades arrived when our club was on its knees with paltry attendances and steered the club through some of the greatest times in our history with promotions to the top division, a 3rd place finish, an FA Cup final appearance and of course another Wembley appearance when we won the ZDS cup.
We had some wonderful times during the Noades era.

At Selhurst Park, the Holmesdale Stand was built replacing the ageing terrace and the Whitehorse Lane Stand was also constructed.

I saw Ron Noades a few months before he passed away and I was really saddened to see the deterioration in his health.RIP.

Finally, some rather disparaging remarks have been made concerning his dear wife Novello.I always found Novello to be a charming, friendly lady and I wish her well.

Well said Willo I’m with you 100%. Both very friendly people. Total Palace fanatics. Our club has its way. Once bitten, here for life.

My grandfather was a steward at Palace and couldn't stand Noades.

However, he was a shrewd businessman.....Noades, not my grandfather.

Willo
The valuation I posted about is true.
I am not saying they were right but I know for a fact that he approached them and that was their valuation of Palace at that time.
Needless to say he found the money elsewhere.

had a couple of face to face words with Ron when we was losing our supporters club for a car park, but also went to a palace forum were he stopped it and opened up the floor for any question instead of submitted ones,

He done alot but we didnt win the world cup so makes him a bad owner. he sold the team not the ground jordon lied about the ground, did Jordon speak to Noades doubt it, Did Parish and co get the ground back yes. so whos the bad guys anyone that gets the club above there station.

who took us into Debt Bloye who got us out Noades who got us in debt Goldberg. out Jordon then in Debt. then Parish and co got us out. Parish hasnt done anything wrong and he is black-balled already
