As much as Roy needs to shoulder the blame for his woeful tactics, we have a squad of players who are either not PL standard or are well past their sell by date.

We have 4 central midfield players with not a lick of speed amongst them. McCarthur is the best of them but he can’t be playing week in and out but because he is our only midfield player with attacking qualities then he plays constantly.

Centre midfeld is where all our problems start week in and out, we get overrun overly week. For the rest of the season I would go back to 4-5-1 and shore up the middle of the park. Just play it safe and pick up the points to stay up.

That was my suggestion yesterday in team for Westham thread. I suggested that we played the two Mac’s with Luka in the middle with Zaha and Townsend either side. After tonight’s performance by Luka and Townsend perhaps Eze for Townsend and Reidewald for Luka? The weak ageing back 4 can’t cope with two in the middle of midfield with no pace and too old as well. The formation now played by Hodgson just can’t do it. Amazed he is trying to play more attack minded with the players available. Westham can and did do it because they are younger, more pace and eager to chase it down. We have none of that I’m afraid and don’t be fooled by the substitutions making a difference as Westham had already done a job on us before they came on :-(

“It's concerning. I can't go back 10 games - not sure what you're referring to.

Not such a bad period with draws against Arsenal and Leicester but now two defeats.

It doesn't make a difference in terms of my daily work, and we have to dust ourselves down, train hard and make certain our performance is an awful lot better against Wolves.”

Yes Roy - that’s the last 10 games

Won 1
Drawn 4
Lost 5

Goals for 7

Goals against 21

Not a bad 10 games. Multiply that by 4 for a season you get 28 points and a minus 56 goal difference.

Followed by the absolute peach about Ray

“When he gets over that, he'll be more than welcome back on the bench, but I don't think there's much he could have done tonight to get a result”

Good to know our assistant manager wasn’t needed as Roy had it in hand!

Not me Willow!
I won’t change my view - I’ve seen enough dull spineless football to make me question if I even want to watch games these days... but as we all know being Palace is a drug that you just can’t get enough of ....even when you know it’s no good for your health!

If we go with Wilf and Eze wide the future is bright. Townsend has to be dropped now. Another feeble performance and please don’t give me the usual “puts in a shift” nonsense. Cahill can warm the bench too. Woeful tonight but as usual everyone will let him off. Our best 11 is: Guiata; Clyne, Tomkins, Sakho, Mitchell; Eze, Jairo, Jimmy, Wilf; Ayew, Benteke.
Tonight’s ratings: Guiata 6: Ward 6, Kouyate 6, Cahill 4, Mitchell 5; Townsend 3, Luka 5, Jimmy 6, Eze 6; Benteke 6, Wilf 6.

No one gets a 6. 3,4 and 5 all round.

Perhaps, just perhaps, in the "Cold light of day", those that have been very critical of Mr Hodgson straight after a defeat might just change their views.

100% this needs to happen and I wouldn’t be surprised if it does. Luka is a much better player when he gets to sit in front of the back 4, he hasn’t the legs to be up and down the pitch.

I would go with the 2 macs and Luca with Zaha Eze on wings with Benteke up top (for now). Just get back to playing on the counter attack. I like yourself am shocked that Roy is sticking with this 4-4-2.

Agree but who manages the team ? Or does he not plan for the future or us he nit allowed to by SP & Dougie ( Bolton a better team) Freedman,

I share your view about the overall quality of our squad at this stage of many of their careers.

At the risk of being tedious, I can only re-iterate what I have asserted numerous times - We have 15 outfield players either 30 this year or are in their 30s, they are in the 'Twilight' of their careers and no longer have the pace, energy, and mobility that is required.

You are right of course, 33 year old McCarthur who is played week in week out is being embarrassed. He can barely find a pass these days and gets caught on the ball so often. Unfortunately probably the best of a very poor bunch. We need legs in there. Play Jairo or at least rotate him.

Looks like everyone is going against Roy now, but giving him the sack doesn’t make sense at the moment. He’s got credit in the bank and SP will not want to rock the boat at this present time.

I’m not happy with some of the performances, it’s just not good enough, is it Roy or some of our players that need a rocket?

Lets play Kouyate in the midfield, but then who would play CB, as our ploy of having 4 oldish defenders fails when they are not having a rest but are injured. I would play a 4231 formation with Townsend, Eze and Wilf on the right and Benteke up front.
We are apparently after a younger CB but will it happen especially with the AWB money mostly spent. Do we chuck out Roy now? No for the same reason we don't play Kouyate in Midfield there is no replacement currently.
Equally as frustrated as most of the rest of us and thankfully some points between us and the bottom 7 and but those points are being eaten away. We will survive but please Roy the youngsters must be given a chance before it's too late.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).
