Our wage bill will be much reduced at the end of the season. Max M £170k*, Christian Benteke £125 Sako £100k , Batshuayi £100k. That is over £25 millions per year. This will give Palace the opportunity to keep who they want and let go who they want to go. I don't see us missing any of the player mentioned.

* Max Including signing on fee. All wage figures are estimates

I am inclined to agree and it's the press who are making a lot of noise about the 12 players. Amongst them are Henderson, Hennessey, Sakko, Benteke and Wickham and I would be surprised if any of them stayed/ were wanted.

Of the others, I think they include Clyne, VA, Dann, Cahill, Kouyate, McCarthy and Townsend and I suspect a number of those will be renewed without too much of a problem. Hence, I don't believe the situation is as serious as is perhaps made out to be especially when you take account of the new striker, Butland and hopefully a fit Ferguson.

It’s about time we had a clear out anyway. The only ones I’d keep out of those are Clyne and Kouyate, the rest are surplus to requirements, injury prone or just plain useless now and have had their day. Not so long ago I would’ve said keep Cahill as well, but he’s struggling with form now due to injuries, so I think we’ve had our best days from him.

I suspect Hodgson will be here next season if he wants to be - not because he's a brilliant manager (he's solid and reliable) but because I don't see the club providing the kind of money an upgrade on Hodgson would expect to be made available for revamping the squad over the next two windows. I expect the revamping to be a slow process over several windows combined with a couple of youngsters from the Academy at some point, just enough to keep us above the relegation zone.

What happens if Zaha is sold (as is quite likely). If we use that money to refresh the squad there won't be enough to replace the lynchpin in our team.

We should be starting the rebuild now by looking at young players out of contract in the summer and either buy them cheaply now or else tie them down to a pre contract

Likely/unlikely - who knows? I suspect that if a good enough offer is made then he'll go. Then what? That depends on how the rest of this season pans out.
- If Mateta plays sufficient games to show he's our future CF then that will be one problem solved. It is then a question at what point the club exercises the purchase option
- If he continues to learn and grow, Eze could well become the new talisman. My only fear here is that one of the big boys will make a big offer the board feel thay can't resist
- the money from a Zaha sale (minus Man U's share) should be sufficient to get us a quality youngish attacking midfielder and a central defender (and possibly a wide player) thereby accelerating the refreshing of the squad.

None of that requires the board to appoint a new manager if they are happy for Hodgson to continue and he wants to. Is that what I want? All I want is to see Palace gradually strengthen their place in the PL. It would be great if it could be done overnight, but that's not going to happen. We don't have the revenues and our billionaire owners appear to be doing no more than providing enough funds to keep us afloat in the Prem. I expect evolution not revolution and that takes time unfortunately. I'll be 70 in a few months so may not get to see how far our beloved club can go, but I'll try and enjoy the journey as far as I am able.

I'm pretty sure it is the other Mac (Arthur) that has a contract running until next summer. McCarthy runs out this season

I think another poster said elsewhere (Badger?) Covid and reduced incomes and thus, by extension, low transfer budgets, makes this a buyer's market.

19 player's contracts coming up for extension. Yikes! However, in a buyer's market, especially for those players who only have a season (or two at best) in the tank, if they want that last season in the Prem they will take a one year extension on a considerably reduced wage.

I am not ITK, but suspect the flood of young blood will be more like a trickle; plenty of dad's army will be kept on lower terms; and this site will go into meltdown.

Would you fill the squad with Chelsea's "loan army" where we pay nominal fees to buy them, but Chelsea retain a 35% interest in the players and typically have, say, £25m buyback clauses in place.

So we buy Gilmour for £2m. The most we can ever make on him is £23m profit.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Now the window has closed its s*** or get off the pot time!

Whilst I understand calls for a clear out, they were never realistic and I think at least half the squad will be retained.

My guess is:

Sakho - Released.
Wickham - Released.
Hennessey - Released.
Kelly - Released.
Jach - Released.

Dann - One more year on lower wages.
Benteke - Offered lower wages to stay.
Cahill - One more year on lower wages.
Schlupp - Kept on same wages or better.
Townsend - Kept on same wages.
Ward - Kept on same wages.
Clyne - Kept on same wages.
McArthur - Kept on same wages.
Pierrick - Kept on same wages.
Henderson - Kept on same wages.
Mitchell - Keep on a much better contract.

PVA - Offered same wages but may decide to go.
Woods - Christ knows.
Batshuyi - Not getting bought for £20m, that's for sure.

Think I would keep Kelly, low earner and excellent squad player
