Lampard has shown a strong commitment to youth at a club where £s were thrown at problems in their squad.
This would be a strong positive with SP given our upgraded academy will play a big part in our future.

Still a big risk though.

True but Chelsea also had a transfer embargo so he had no choice and as soon as that was lifted the club spent big.

The problem is I don't think our youth players are good enough. Other Pl clubs chase Chelsea youngsters when was the last time even a championship club asked about our youth players?

We took Steve Coppell as a novice manager in the past so Frank would not be unprecedented. With Roy's age taken into it, I think that a smooth hand over would benefit the club. Frank would be looking to get back to management as soon as possible and if he was interested then it would be something to explore sooner rather than later before he gets another job.

It is about time Palace won something and moved up a level and gave more youth a chance while saving a bunch of cash. (opinion)

You make it sound so easy!! You should e-mail this magic formula to Parish. I think you’ve cracked it

As for Lampard, apart from one little gem every few years, as in Wilf and AWB, I think Chelsea’s production line is a lot better than ours

We did take Steve Coppell , untried, untested. But Ron saw something in Steve and the rest is history. At the time we were screwed anyway and had nothing to lose.

This time there is a lot more at stake....

I don't now why I find myself laughing but I do !
