I've seen us play better and lose.

And if you look at Brighton, they get compliments on their playing style every week but are below us in the table. Potter gets the same kind of criticism from their fans that Hodgson gets on here - '' no Plan B, plays his favourites '' etc.

We have a run of games coming up in which we should be competitive. Saturday's result is a good building block as we start that run. So I'll take that all day long.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s not like we are in the bottom 3 on less than 10 points!

Somtimes it takes an ugly win to kick start some good form.

It happens to every "mid table team" winless, bad form, bad football, then they kick on.

I never supported palace for the "Fancy" football we play

it wasn't great, it wasn't awful.

With 3 games in 8 days Roy was right to mix the side and was also correct to play it safe in the last 10 minutes as the 3 points were critical.

No sure about Bats upfront - can't hold the ball and can't head it and his movement is poor. For an international striker he should have more to his game. His missed chance showed a glaring lack of technique too.

We've moaned about throw ins before but i have to add defending corners. We are conceding too many and almost did the same late on but for a fantastic VG save.
Why was Clyne marking their tall centre forward?? Ridiculous. Surely the players can switch things themselves. Luka and Jairo could have done so, assuming the 2 centre backs were marking their opposites.
Roy's response was to bring Ward on, but are players micro managed so much now that they can't make decisions on the pitch?

Listening to Lewington's barking and that of coaches at most if not all of the other PL clubs, the answer would seem to be "yes they are micro-managed"

I hope Mateta is a raging success for us, but I'm amazed at how many people are demanding his immediate inclusion when we've literally never seen him play, as if Benteke, Batshuyi and Ayew have not a single, solitary positive attribute, as if (joking aside) they're pretending to be footballers and we've just rumbled them and this scandal must be corrected this very second.

Actually, our existing forwards are proven to be of a certain standard. Not amazing, not something we can't improve on, and not something the new man can't aim to overtake, but not nothing either.

That is the 'Roy out' mindset all over. Demanding change for its own sake immediately as if we've nothing to lose, when we absolutely have got everything to lose.

We were one up against a good team today in a very tight game, had lost one player to injury and used another sub for fresh legs. It wasn't the time to ask an unknown quantity to step into the unknown, whatever our hopes for him might ultimately be.

This is a great bit of analysis, well said.
I'm not happy with how Palace have played recently, and i'm sure this poster isn't either, but you have to have some rational thinking too.
And besides which Roy made 6 changes for the game too!

I felt the last 10-15 minutes of the Spammer game paved the way forward and had hoped RH would start the same, with Jairo infront of the back four. He went with McCarthy who did put in a typical industrious performance. However, in Tomkin's absence, Jairo has provided much needed solidity to the back four and showed again the intelligence to fill spaces vacated by the back four. Something McCarthy doesnt have in his game.

Milivojevic was poor once again. He has been an erstwhile servant but I feel his time is up. Our forward play was at best disjointed, much of it down to misplaced passes. Although this cant all be put on our captain's shoulders, on numerous occasions he was at fault. Unfortunately this has been a recurring theme, with Milivojevic putting in the odd good performance.

I like the 4-2-3-1 formation. It has brought the best out of a skillful Ayew, albeit no goals, while his industry made sure we weren't overrun in midfield against Wolves. Unlike the Spammers game, bar last 10 minutes.

Do we have Benteke, Batsman or Mateta spearheading the formation? Benteke holds the ball up well while Batsman is better with the ball on the floor. The hope is Mateta can do both well and add much needed goals.
RH must give him chance.

We have seen Meyer and Sorloth leave to the RH tune 'admittedly he didnt get a fair crack of the whip', leaving many of us wondering why this was the case given our obvious shortcomings.

As for RH out... He is not perfect but few, if any, could achieve what has done with limited resources. That said, if he was to go at the end of the season then I would want somebody like Brentford's Thomas Frank to replace one of our own, RH.
