The commentators made a point about Wolves generally being strong defensively and Chelsea failed to beat them the other night. Wolves were joint third highest for clean sheets last season, but let's not let facts enter in on the discussion. We should score five every week and Roy's an idiot, plainly.

Great result considering. I am still in the Roy out camp that hasn't changed .But thought Ayew was good ,him and Bats as I mentioned before d don't work together .but both of them put the leg work in, that Benteke never does Riedwald should be one of first names on teamsheet .We will be ok this season but need to shift the deadwood and get 3/4 younger players in for next season .

I'm sorry, but although we won, that was turgid and dull and all the time we were 1-0 up, Mateta was never going to get his debut. In fact it was not working all the time Batshyuai was on the pitch, yet unless we were losing, Roy was never going to sub him. He did after we went in the lead, but only brought Townsend to shore up the game. It was still beyond dull. Mateta will only end up making a few appearances from the bench this season if he is lucky. We are treading water under Hodgson. Yep that is a fair summary..!! Look really pleased we won and there was a change in formation today - Eze played in the 10 role and low and behold came up with the winning goal. But that has been staring Roy in the face for weeks..!! To my mind today was a "watershed" moment for Roy, if we had lost today I really don't see that how he could have carried on. Fair play to Roy he changed things today and we did in phases look better - but we are still woefully underachieving. Wolves were unbelievably poor today - but as the adage says you can only beat what is put out in front of you and we did that. Do I think this vindicates Roy and his tactics - no for me he still has to go and the sooner the better..!! Do I think that will happen - no, clearly survival is the priority and in fairness we are probably nearly there so that will see Roy at the helm for the remainder of the season. Meantime it will be attritional and painful to watch as we limp to safety when in reality we should be doing and achieving so much more..!! We'll see..!! COYP

We are treading water under Hodgson. We didn't create much, two shots on target, but the goal was decent, good work by Ayew again. If Zaha could maintain some level of calm in front of goal instead of slash wildly then it would and should have been two. Nevertheless a clean sheet and a win, a confidence booster.

Unfortunately, some people are never happy. This game reminded me of our win at their ground a couple of years back (living in the W Midlands, it was almost a home game). That night Wolves didn't know what to do because we wouldn't give them the space they thrive on. We weren't as good today as we were then but we did the job and completed our third clean sheet in five league games, which bodes well for the upcoming games. Edited by doombear (30 Jan 2021 7.06pm) I remember listening to five live with my son. Must have been a great away day.

Originally posted by gaz1959 I certainly do. That first game against Notts County in particular! Some of the so called fans on this site are deluded fantasists. Given our status and finances it’s nothing short of a miracle that we have enjoyed such a long run in the top flight and are holding our own for another season. Moderate your expectations or go and follow the results of a billionaire funded team. But please stop spoiling our enjoyment of 3 hard earned (and deserved) points. I get where the OP is coming from. I didn’t watch it because I can’t stand the way we play. Our style of play is dull, dull, dull. Is that what fans really want? We sign new players and Roy won’t play them. The chances are Mateta will never start a game. What kind of message does that send out to any potential signings?
