no, he was dating a widow known as Sue, she lived all alone in Lindley Lane at number 22, it was two ton from Teddington who drove the baker's van you're getting mixed up with: "Now Ernie dragged him from his van and beneath the blazing sun, They stood there face to face, and Ted went for his bun." And as for Ernie Howe maybe the OP meant this bloke: jury's out on Howe, wouldn't be surprised if it went either way. I'd prefer Pearson, Bilic (now unavailable)or Dyche (won't come) to either Ernie or Frank. Show off

Thing is, does it ever actually happen that way? Far more likely that we end up selling any good young players we happen to develop to premier league clubs, as happened last time with Clyne and Zaha.

The one thing that always sticks out for me is the interview that Ian Holloway did a few years after he left us. He said that he had come to the club with his own ideology on how football should be played and wanted to move us from the style which we were playing at the time, counter attacking, to a more possession based and attacking team. He said it was the first time in his career that the players had just absolutely resisted this change. The players only had any real interest in playing as a counter attacking team, hence why we did so well under Pulis after him. The team between then and now is vastly different and one that should be able to transition across to that style of play. However, with Home, his philosophy and style is at complete odds to have we have set up for the last decade. If we are to bring him in, then he will need time, to be backed to bring in players that suit his style of play. If we don't have the patience and backing, then he will just be another FDB. FDB was too much too quickly, but Howe will still be a significant shift and will only work if we can get in 2 more midfielders that are both comfortable on the ball and have composure. The only CM I can see working under him is Jairo.

I’d prefer Thomas Frank at Brentford to Howe or Dych. Works on a budget, plays good football, Palace are a step up

Ernie Howe looks just right for the Palace and, as his last job was at Sutton, he may even still live in the area, so no moving costs to pick up if he accepts the job. He's still only 67 so a pup compared with Roy. Worth a punt if we can't get Eddie! Lol!!! Ernie Howe is an English football manager and former player who is currently no longer managing a team after he mutually parted company with Sutton United on 30 March 2008, having failed to pull them out of the Conference South relegation zone. He was Basingstoke Town's manager for 13 years until 2006, winning the Hampshire Senior Cup and promotion during his tenure. A defender in his playing career, Howe turned out for Fulham alongside the likes of George Best and Rodney Marsh. He was a member of the Fulham squad beaten 2–0 by West Ham United in the 1975 FA Cup Final but did not make the team. He was subsequently transferred to Queens Park Rangers and then Portsmouth. Although not known for his goal scoring Howe scored on his Pompey debut at home to Sheffield United in August 1982. He helped Portsmouth win the Division Three championship that season. The following season before leaving Pompey he also scored in his final home game. After leaving Portsmouth he was appointed coach at Wokingham Town. He married the sister of fellow footballer Andy McCulloch, whose father Adam McCulloch had also played.
