Do we though?

I am inundated with negativity when I open this page.

We support a great club.

But then we the supporters tear that club down to the point that people do not want to work at this club. But that was only done to make the club better. Really? To me that is harassment.

No that is a single example out of context. Is it?

We need a massive mirror to view ourselves. This is not okay.

Regards, a former season ticket holder who got beat up by Palace fans.

they had a West Ham supporter on Talksport a week or so ago seriously wanting Moyes out bcos he might not be the man to get them into the top four. it could be worse. Criticism should be aired but in context - Parish clearly has Palace's best interests at heart and Hodgson has been a success given the money he's been given - he's been happy to be mugged off the way Pulis and Allardyce weren't happy to be.

After Moyes failed at Manchester United with 2 further club failures after that I thought he was finished.

To his credit he has done a good job at Wet Spam who are one of the delusional fan bases that demand the major trophies. He doesn't play the "West Ham" way whatever that means but the league position doesn't lie.

If their fans don't want him I would be happy for him to come to Palace.

I have read HOL with both interest and amusement for a few years now, but after becoming dismayed at reading some of the negative comments about Roy Hodgson's management in December last year, I signed up and wrote the OP.

I feel justified at resurrecting it because Roy's decision to retire (from Palace anyway) is a significant move in our club's development. The overwhelming majority have respected his football knowledge and offered him warm congratulations and thanks for a job well done. Despite coming from some strong doubters.

The 6500 fans at Selhurst tonight will rightly give him a huge send off. Pity it won't be a full house.

It's a bit like losing a member of the family because he's been a fan, like us, since boyhood. Whatever we think about his management style, he's undoubtedly helped to raise the profile of our club and we'll never see the like of him again.

Whoever replaces him will not have the same connection and in that sense it will be very different. In Steve Parish we trust to bring in a manager with a calming, reassuring and polite manner. Like Roy, but with the man management ability and tactical nous to offer us exciting football. He will be warmly welcomed of course.

First, let's beat The Arsenal tonight.
Up the Palace!!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Letting Roy go was a no brainer for me. If he was younger or the players were I would have kept him.

However we need to rebuild the squad and Roy would only stay for another year maybe two and then what? A new manager may not want Roy's players so it makes sense to make the change now.

Good luck Roy and Ray thanks for all your work.

Not sure I agree with when you say we won’t see the likes of him again.

Great guy, good manager, but let’s not get carried away. Lot of people would slag Roy off in here, I never did, however I also don’t agree with him becoming some kind of saint now he has resigned.

Like I say, good manager, but not sure he particularly raised the clubs profile as you mention, when I think of Alison (in many ways an awful manager) Venables, Coppell, I would say these guys lifted our profile far more.

Wish Roy well though. He did good here.

That's the way I see it too.

The entire club has been run through a short term lens for the last 4 years.

In that time we have held fast in the Premier League while spending a relative pittance and we are starting to see real progress at Academy Level which wasn't there before.

Time to look at a 3-5 year ' Project ' as they like to say these days.

The OP is a great post but I’m not local to the club but have been supporting them for over 30 years now. As a young child I had no interest in football until my friend made me watch a semi final on the tv, Palace vs Liverpool. Since then I’ve loved football and us. Yes I’ve seen us play live many times before my job took me out of England a few years ago.

But your post and the other similar ones means I shouldn’t support the club I have loved for all this time? The club I loved at all times? I’ve always believed the club chose me, without it I’d be one of those strange people that doesn’t watch football.

As for people knocking Parish, I still remember being devastated when it looked like I’d lose the club I support and had told myself I’d have to live life without a club to support until he was one of the ones who saved us, so those complaining about our football this season should be thankful he allowed us to watch our club still.

Damn right Og!

Minutes away.

Every time that team crosses the white line, I'm grateful to Steve.
