Fair play to Roy, he saw our centrebacks were struggling and decided to sit deep and see if Newcastle could break us down in the second half. They couldn't. Not a great watch but effective as after gaps in the first half they barely had a real chance in the second.

My one criticism was leaving Batshuayi on. He was awful and lazy. Bentenke made sense as he is actually good at defending setpieces and is good at winning long balls. Wish we could have seen Mateta, but 6pts off Europe at this stage of the season! Bruce to get the boot after that and the new coach to replace him?

I'd give Clyne MOTM, but Jairo, Ayew and Eze were all top drawer too.

No Kouyate.

Took 18 months to learn that.

But tonight I'm so glad he has. Great game. Players seemed to have found an extra gear too. Possibly due to knowing their not being set up for a hiding.

Only disapointing performance was Batshuayi.

Keep it like this Roy.

With got twice as many points as Fulham with less than half the season remaining. Let's start looking up the league.

It was 442. Zaha and Bats up top, Eze left and Ayew right?

Fantastic - back to back wins when it really mattered!!

Virtually safe now with 16 games to go

Hope Wilf's not out for too long!!

Massive 3pts considering the start we had and that it looks as though Wilf could be out for a while.

Very stressful viewing... not least because of Townsends absolute howler.

Thought the ref was very poor.

Hopefully current injuries aren't too bad.

An ugly and gritty win if ever there was one.

A very good win considering a makeshift defence and a bad miss by Townsend. Although the centre backs were very shaky in first half they improved in the second. The set up by RH was Eze in the centre of mid field and Wilf out on the left. However Wilf decided to play as a striker leaving Eze to cover the left of mid field. Eze played the position well but he would be more effective in mid field. Although it is currently necessary for Guaita to kick long we should be working on playing the ball out of defence instead. We virtually lose the ball from a long kick.

Delighted with the win. I thought we would win comfortably and we would have done if Batman understood the offside rule and Townsend.......well enough said.

As Cahill said in his post match interview it was freezing, windy, wet and slippy afoot, Certainly not the time to bring on a 23 year old who has not played in the premier league. His turn will come.

What can I say. 2 poor performances and 2 wins! We've played 10 times better and lost. At least there was some fight tonight.

But please, please, please no more Batshuayi. He makes Benteke look world class.

Yeah, it was 442. I think everyone thought they would start the same as at Wolves, but Wilf was definitely up top with Bats and Ayew and Eze out wide.
