He wanted to leave 3 years ago. The contract talks that occurred have been widely discussed on here and general consensus was, SP offered him a new 5 year contract on a very nice salary and promised that if Wilf signed it he would let him go if the right offer came in. Rumours and speculation I know, however that story has come from so many different sources you have to suspect it’s true.

The right offer has never come in. If Arsenal had the money up front rather than in stages then the £72m paid for Pepe would have been enough I am sure for SP to sell. It was not to be however and it has proved a poor investment for Arsenal and a benefit for us.

I think he is worth no more than £40m now given his age and salary requirements, however I doubt whether SP would let him go for that amount. A very tricky situation although I think the best case scenario is to let him go as we need to refresh the way we play and it’s better not to have to rely on him. Of course, his value will start to plummet as he ends his current contract as well and I can’t imagine a circumstance where he signs a new one.

Will always love Wilf, he's up there with the all time CPFC greats in my mind, but I have to say this season is the first one where I am close to thinking it might not be the worst thing for him to leave at the end. I say close to thinking that, I'm not quite there yet!

That would all depend on us getting and reinvesting... wisely, the money of course.

I doubt there is a plan, with no evidence either way just gut feeling, but if we are in any way looking to shake up the playing squad, letting a few go and bringing in some young blood, synchronising that with a Wilf departure would probably seem a good move.

Asides from that, I can't really see him ever leaving Palace and tbh not quite sure how that will work out for the player or club in the long run.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

That too is my worry. An unhappy player with a lot of sway can be disastrous for a dressing room, hence why I’m leaning towards letting him go at the end of this season. A new manager and a revised team for next season is in my opinion the way to go.

You never know he might decide he wants to stay and that would change the dynamic considerably, however that scenario is probably unlikely.

Nope, you've simply highlighted what I wrote.

Grealish has good attacking players around him doesn't he, you do understand we don't, so Grealish has better balls to him and better players to make the most of what he does on the pitch, not rocket science.
Zaha is frustrated to hell and back with still being here and playing with players who aren't good enough to bring the best out of him and make the most of what he does.
How many wonderful opportunities does he create for our non existent strikers to run onto and also not make themselves available for his pass.

LOL. Did you see Villa last year? Completely different team to this season - they had no striker and were 100% reliant on Grealish. He was the most fouled player last year too.

Also, i'm talking about Zaha's reaction to getting fouled/tackled whereas you're referring to him getting frustrated due to the limited ability of the players around him.

He's 28 and on c£130k a week, why is anyone trying to defend him - he's not a 5 year old.
