As you say if people know there is always going to be a severe consequence if found carrying a concealed weapon it will likely factor into the likelihood of them doing so.

Why don't we just go full american in that case and have open carry laws for firearms to at least even the playing field?

Not sure what the plice situation is in mainland Spain, but in Ibiza, they have "La Policia" (police) and "La Guardia" (some sort of fusion of police and army) and the people are s*** scared of the Guardia. They carry guns, they police fair and they take no s***. Would love to see that over here.

The solution is very simple. Military service. They want to have weapons so badly... Give it to those muppets with an army uniform and force them to fight for us in Syria. Knowing that is a threat. Will not be surprised that all, when all of a sudden the number of knives crime that happens in the UK will decrease. If too young. Then dress them in bright pink dresses, force them to clean the UK and do proper manual labour. Be a good member of society. State that pictures will be given to local paper if they commit any more crimes. All of a sudden.... Their hard "roadman" rep will have gone. When a current threat is a nice jail with a pool table and tv. Not a threat at all.
