No wonder Benteke hasn’t scored diddly swat for last few years. There’s no attacking or structured guile coming through to him from midfield. I can see Mateda suffering the same fate.

Parish
Get in Eddie Howe before it’s too late and someone else snaffles him!

Another coup option to consider is Andre Villas-Boas. Just left Marseille, ex Chelsea and Spurs and can adapt to Palace's current style whilst putting his own authority on the team.

Andre Villas-Boas left Marseille as he didn't like their recruitment policy with the owners buying players that he didn't want so he is highly unlikely to step out of the frying pan into the fire

Lessons from the game,
- Don’t attempt to turn Eze into Townsend by playing him right wing as was done in the first half
- Don’t play a 2 man midfield against a mobile opposition that rotate players. You’re likely to be outnumbered.
- Mark from set pieces and don’t continue to give free headers to the opposition
- Provide some service to the striker(s) or Mateta is likely to go the way of Benteke, Batshuayi and Sorloth in looking pretty hopeless
- Don’t play against a quick opposition with no pace in your central defence or deepest midfield position. Kouyate was available and would have not been exposed for pace as were the three players in question.
Feel free to add other lessons.

Roy has one tactic and that is give the ball to Wilf and when he is not playing it is still give the ball to a virtual Wilf. Leeds are the fittest team in the league and their energy levels are immense. In added time the ball broke to Eze just inside our half and FOUR Leeds players chased him while the rest of our players were dead on their feet. We made it easy for Leeds to play their football by backing off when they had possession, they could do exactly what they wanted under no pressure whatsoever.

I also rate Nigel Pearson. Remember he was the guy who moulded Leicester into the force they still are today. He seems to be a bit of a hard bar steward and so I’m not 100% sure about how he would get on with Parish.

Benteke was a class striker until the day that Hodgson walked in the door. The fact that he’s hardly scored since can’t be a coincidence.

I've just noticed that 6 Leeds players had more touches of the ball than Luka and Riedewald added together.

No midfield - defence is under pressure and will buckle.

No midfield - no service to the strikers,so no goals.

It's not rocket science Roy, where is our midfield???

And that is the main problem - 3 central midfielders with two wide midfielders is the only way this ageing / lack of any quality team should be playing. Defence to deep as well which didn’t help.

My good god what a boring, boring game. Leeds were woeful but woeful against a team who simply were not there.
Every opportunity for a forward pass was squandered or ignored, the left flank gave away possession over and over again and no desire to get out of our own half was ever shown.
Ayew had great positioning but then was lost when it came to him, preferring to either thump it against a defender or fall over than take initiative. Clyne was reasonable defensively but attacking wise without instruction. The whole team reaked of an "I don't want the ball, you do something with it" attitude bar Eze and Jairo who were never provided any assistance.

I would say what I normally do after a s*** loss which is "better forget this one and move on" but we really can't forget such a shart display but instead focus on it as a gleaming display of how not to take to the pitch.

Lackluster, uninterested and uninformed.

This sums it up

I still haven't calmed down but in defence of our Manager the pitch was a disgrace and Leeds should be heavily fined for the state of it.
Also - he cannot legislate for Palace players not recognising the colour of the shirts when they are passing the ball.
Injuries - not his problem - but every team has them right now so he has to suck that up.
After that it is on him and that is a heavy weight to bear.
Where Leeds were fast and pressed hard we were cumbersome and pedestrian.
Where Leeds passed the ball quickly we were the polar opposite.
Where they had a plan and a purpose we had neither and all over the field their generally Championship players made ours look League one!
Dann was poor - he cannot play two games on the bounce - and whilst Kouyate may be tired he should have played - Cahill looks better with him.
Round pegs and square holes everywhere.
This just cannot go on - but it will.
I am so glad I am not paying to go and watch this dross.
The players have to answer of course but the Manager is in control and trains them every day - not that you would think so.
Roy has been great for us and a top Manager around the world but he has reached the end of that road in my opinion and there is no shame in that.
We will stay up of course because the bottom three are not likely to get out of the trouble they are in and we will be a part of the group above them.
No shame in that as such but in our eighth season in the Prem I expect slightly more than that and maybe a smidge more battling spirit and even some entertainment.
Maybe I am asking too much?

The worrying thing is if West Ham and Leeds had a taken all their chances as Liverpool did we could have conceded seven in both of these games as well. What I can’ understand is how now we look like conceding goals from every corner now where as we used to concede very few goals in games.I know our CB’s are slow but this shouldn’t matter at set pieces, points to lack of confidence/ desire to keep the ball out.
