I am not forming a judgement after the lad on his debut game, and in his first introduction to the PL played for 65 mins in a team where most of the players never emerged with any credit whatsoever.Mbappe and Messi would have struggled last night.

Had a few decent touches and can see potential but how on earth we can judge any player in that performance last night is beyond me. Hoping for good things to come, but IMO we missed the boat as usual on Ollie Watkins.

He made some absolute howlers that season and I remember hoping he'd never play for us again! He's my favourite ever Palace player now.

Absolutely right, you can't blame a new player for something that has been building up for 2/3 seasons.

I thought he did okay. Looked a bit raw but at least tried to close the ball down. He probably did more running in 65 minutes than Beneteke has done all season, which is why he faded.

A very difficult debut. I can't quite understand the thinking in having him as an unused sub for 2 games and then throwing in him in the deep end by including him in a team whose entire back 4 shouldn't be anywhere near starting for a Premier League team. Our captain looks shot to bits and needs replacing ASAP and our best player is injured.

The only players that did okay last night were Jairo, Eze and maybe Townsend.

I know PVA has been indifferent this season but he played in our last 2 games that we won so I am not sure why he was shoved into midfield and then hooked at half time when it didn't work out.

Really poor from Roy last night who was given a lesson in how to play exciting football from a newly promoted team whilst standing in his technical area muttering away to himself.

Considering the absolute crap performance of most of those behind him last night, there is no way anyone can be totally judgmental about Matetas performance.
Palace were as so often is the case virtually non existent in the opposition box, but Matetas , work on the night showed a lot of promise, on and off the ball. He was strong in the tackle ,held the ball well most times, and closed down well compared with many around him. Linking well in the play that was all to often only happening in deep positions. His height allowed him to win one or two balls in the air that isn’t always the case with the forwards we already have. It must be clear by now that any so called striker is going to struggle to actually strike in this team with this set up. That performance last night can only be used to judge the whole team , certainly not a debutant having to try and improve what looks more and more now as a team not good enough to cope with the more mobile outfits in this league.
