He is a relatively rich football supporter, however the world has moved on and to compete in the top league you don’t just need a few bob in the bank. This was the reason the yanks were bought in in the first place, to help with funding, but it looks like they are now disinterested, so we are left with someone who wants the best for his club but can’t afford it. It’s not his fault, but if we want to compete in this league he either has to drop down to a minority holding or go altogether. It has nothing whatsoever to do with being careful what you wish for, it’s understanding that without additional funds on top of media revenues you are on a hiding to nothing in this league. I couldn't agree more with you more, SP long ago reached his level of incompetence, he lacks the experience to run a PL club and has appointed DOF who seems incapable of finding players to fill key positions or as replacements for those who are either out of contract or who are just not good enough anymore for this league, in some cases this of course is due to their age. The extensions of contacts for out of form or permanently injured players was complete madness when you consider the salaries involved as a return for on field performance. The American have the wealth but they are not interested in progressing the club so the only hope we have of staying in this league is to find a new investors who really want a performing PL team and who can take it to even greater horizons all of which are well beyond the ability of SP.

It really must be silly season if people genuinely want Parish out. Very very short memories here. Yeah, he's a bit of a t***, but this is the most successful we've been in a long time. Look where we are from when he took over to where we are now. Don't let the inconsistent/boring performances on the pitch cloud your judgement, I genuinely believe he is doing his best.

Doing you best does not necessarily mean you are doing a good job, living in the past is not going to improve this football club. Where are we now?, well we at best are flat lining in this league and in reality we are more likely to be in slow decline. The past has gone and the future is what matters!

If the Hol site was a pair of Y-fronts this thread would be a skid mark upon them. Outrageous.

In the final analysis, Steve has to work within the financial parameters at the club. Without significant monies to overhaul a playing squad perhaps one has to gallivant down a path which might not have been trodden in different circumstances. This is Steve Parish' 11th season at the helm and this is our 8th season in the PL since he arrived in June 2010 after the club had been in Administration.

I don't think that anyone is denying that he did a marvellous job in taking a bust club and taking it to the promised land where we have now been for the last few years. The main point is whether or not he has the wherewithal to keep us there or even to push us onwards and upwards. If Parish and his American buddies can't / won't fund a squad rejuvenation this summer then I would like to see them all sell out to someone who will Better the devil you know. I don't think there are that many buyers out there with the pockets to fund it in the current climate. I'd take what we are over Man City, Chelsea, United etc - a community club that is always going to be on the periphery. The joy is in the struggle at times - though this is a nice struggle to have.

I haven't read the whole thread. Sorry. But if SP out, is there a buyer lined up or are we all clubbing together?
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

How long have you been a Palace fan? Because honestly, these are the best years for me. The football may not be pretty but it beats some of the s***e I've seen and awful games I've been to when we didn't have a pot to piss in. Better the devil we know, definitely. (I don't even think he's a devil)

(I don't even think he's a devil) Therein lies the contradiction. We have success as in are in the top division. On the gravy train, but are playing such dull football interspersed with games of such ineptitude that it is almost unbearable to watch. Clearly some are happy to put up with this as long as it means we stay in the top flight but many see that by standing still and treading water in this league is actually going backwards. We have a huge summer ahead and I cannot help but feel Parish and his team of ex players and elderly acolytes are simply not up to the job of rebuilding the club.

Fans are entitled to their opinion, but I always laugh when I hear ‘board out’ Parish Out’. I understand ‘manger out’ because there is a long list of potential replacements. But....removing the board or our current chairman and shareholder is laughable. What the alternative. It’s not like a manager where someone can step right in and take over. Is there a consortium waiting in the wings? What can we realistically expect but Parish leaving? Very rarely do you ever see the board leave under fan pressure, and if they do it is usually because the club is in huge financial trouble. Of all the boards in the premier league, I think only Leicester, Chelsea, Man City, Leeds and Everton have boards (Chairman) liked and respected by their own fans. The other 15 clubs would prefer the ppl running our clubs walk away and let someone more qualified take over. With those odds, what’s the chances of the next person doing a better job?
